How much depo provera do I need?

I tried depo provera last year for one injection. I liked the way it started to make me feel, but the feeling was just a tease and short lived. I have recently began to consider going on it to achieve what I have been desiring for a while, total chemical castration. I know that some to the board members have been on this stuff for a while and hopefully they will be willing to give me some good advice. The first thing that I need is a good reliable source for depo provera. My origional source is no longer selling it in syringe form or in liquid. My other question is regarding the right dosage. I know what one shot feels like after a few weeks, so I'm not totally in the dark. I also know that a shot a month has helped some poeple say good bye to their libido, but to what level? My goal is to get maxium results in the shortest possible time. What I would like to know is how long it took for those of you who are on monthly injections to achieve your goals. From my experience it would probably take at least 3 months before the hot flashes began signaling success. My current plan is to take 2 150mg shots at once the first month and at least 1 shot monthly there after. Biweekly looks better, but the ordering problems and costs are higher. I would appreciate any constructive feedback that any of you guys can give me before I start my journey of being testosterone free. Thanks in advance.

Ok, my first advice is SEE A PHYSICIAN.

You are dealing with a powerful drug, and if you don't have the guidance and supervision of a physician, you risk serious harm to yourself. 😠

One of the most notable side-effects of Depo is that it alters your electrolyte level, especially potassium. Electrolyte imbalances are nothing to joke about. They can even be life-threatening if severe enough, and you have to be careful about your electrolyte levels while you are on Depo.

Depo is also a diuretic. That is, you have to drink a lot of liquids to replace what you'll pee out when you take Depo. If you don't drink a lot of water on a daily basis, you not only risk dehydration, but serious electrolyte imbalance (see above).

Also, Depo Provera is basically synthetic Progesterone, eg, female hormone. If you take too much, you take the chance of permanent physical feminization (I'd like that, but maybe YOU wouldn't).

You get one chance, one body, so do it a favor and see a doctor first. Please don't be the fool.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure about the electrolite levels but as far as feminization is concerned depo provera does not cause male feminization. The chemical structure is very simular to actual testosterone which allows it to bind to the testosterone receptors tricking the body into thinking it already had enough which leads to a testosterone deficiency (castration). It will not cause feminization, but like anyone who had been castrated some fat deposits may develop around the breast and hip area rather than going straight to you abdomin like in a normal male. The drug is considered safe, but your right is should be given under supervision. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find a doctor who would be willing to help. So for right now I'm going to carefully go about it on my own.

A question for anyone here who is getting depo provera shots under a doctor's supervision: How did you manage to convince the doctor to do that for you?

I think they routinely give depo provera shots to women who ask for it (as a contraceptive) and don't have contraindications, but what about men? I don't think it's so useful as a contraceptive in men because men who seek contraception probably want to have sex, and Depo Provera would prevent them from getting an erection.

Happousai i think the reason the doctor prescribed this drug is because i was honest with him and he knew that i was having a problem with sexual problems.Other than that i guess i found a doctor that was willing to listen witch is very rare. And yes it is very effective birth controal for men i couldnt have sex any more if i wanted to

Oh, I just remembered there was one member of this board who kept masturbating too much in an unsafe way, and got several infections over the years, for which he kept seeing the same doctor for.

He ended up asking that doctor to prescribe him something to reduce his sex drive, and the doctor did.
