Wondering??????

Post by Scottie (imported) »

Just feelin kinda low after my B day and celebration. emotions seem more pronounced and seem to slow me down more than before. I seem to sleep deeper too. Last night got a case of the chills, that happens once in a while. I am wondering if all of you or at least some of you want to know any of this stuff. I mean the drama isin't as great as it was when I was in danger, but it, is what I am going through as well as what alot of Eunuchs will go through. Even though I welcome comments questions and actvity, I find it sparce. Is everyone on a vacation? I must be a bore? So I was just being depressed a bit. See ya all lata! Scottie

No, it's not that you're a bore.

The weather is getting nicer, and with that comes a slowdown in Board use. After being inside for most of the winter, a LOT of us just want to get OUT and do something outside.

Sleeping deeper and having bouts of chills is something that I've not seen before, though. Perhaps when everyone else gets around to the thread, they'll comment.

Well, I can relate to both Scottie and Riverwind. There are times when I sleep very well, other times when I can't get a good night's sleep to save my life! There are times when I have hot flashes, and SEVERE night sweats, I mean like waking up drenched! But there are other times when I have had chills so bad I cannot get warm no matter what I do.

I have not been able to figure any pattern to all of this, except that I usually get the chills in the evening before I got to bed.

I don't want to scare you, Scottie (or anyone else) but just FYI, I have been a eunuch for 6 years, and I think if anything has changed the night sweats have been getting more severe.

Paolo is correct about the good weather. Having spent a good 45 years of my life in Canada, I am a devoted subscriber to the principle that says "if the weather is good, get your butt out into it!" It was 83 here today, so you can guess where I have been all day (except for work).

There you go again. Scottie...be patient with yourself. Your body underwent a traumatic experience. Your thought patterns are changing with the decline in testosterone levels. Your body may take a short time or a long time to adjust whatever it is that the hot flashes and nightsweats are adjusting.

Some eunuchs, like myself, sleep better becuse they have a calmer reaction to life. Another reason I sleep well is that I am tired at the end of the day, since eunuchs do tire more easily.

And from my hanging out in alt.support.menopause, chills can happen just as much as hot flashes and night sweats.

And always feel free to e-mail me or phone me if you want a one-on-one chat, OK?

Now, again...BE PATIENT with yourself. Give your body and mind time to properly heal. This won't happen overnight, and may take many months.

Remember that post-surgical depression will happen to many eunuchs, no matter how much they wanted the operation and how well they eventually adjust to it. And now let me have a friend take over. Here is a copy of an e-mail she sent me shortly after my own castration....

As re calcium: I use a calcium supplement called "Bone Complex" from Willner Chemists in New York. (www.willner.com) You can order it over the net. It is totally amazing! I genetically have osteoporosis, and I am using a drug called Fosamax, but was still getting burning sensations in my spine despite using it. The Bone Complex tabs (two tabs once or twice daily depending on your needs) totally knocked that out. It has totally stopped any symptoms. If you want good long-term calcium protection that really works, try it, you'll love it.

Also, a few more things:

Castration does not change our habits, it makes things nice and quiet, so we can have a noise free environment to work on ourselves. I.e. if we are angry before, we will be angry after, unless we work on the source of the anger. The eunuch stillness really makes things nice, and after a while you will not think about sex very much, but will still retain the capacity to become sexually excited about someone you meet that pushes the right buttons.

If you find that you are getting a bit depressed or getting hot flashes, you can get an herb at health food stores called Dong Quai. It really stops the hot flashes and depressions. Also, be easy on yourself. You may get a lot of negative thoughts and regrets about castration, and feel that you look: weird, or freaky, or less than a man, when viewing your genitals in the mirror. This is normal, and it takes about a year to mourn the loss of your old body and accept your new one. We all go through this phase, and it's OK to feel any feelings that come up. The good thing is that after about a year, you will feel so good you will be in orbit!

Me: 15 years post, still get the occasional unexpected and uncontrollable chills or sweats, but in any case almost always sleep quite well.

YMMV ... :)

No, change that: YMWV ... :D
