Black market psychologist recommendation letters?

Is there such a thing as black market psychologist recommendation letters?

That is, getting a lenient (perhaps ethically questionable) psychologist to write recommendation letters for oneself, without having gone through the standard "weekly sessions for six months" thing and then going to a reputable mainstream surgeon.

I suspect such a thing may be why the various SRS surgeons I've talked with have all said that if they didn't recognize the psychologists and psychiatrists signing letters for potential clients, they would call them and discuss their letter/recommendation with them.

There is nothing that requires them to accept a letter from an unknown, and if they have questions they will often refer the potential client to a known, recognized psychiatrist (often at a university) for a few sessions as a triplecheck ...

Of course it depends on the surgeon - if they simply want the risk offloaded to someone else ("He had his letters from a psychologist and a psychiatrist, how was I to know they were questionable? I took their professional word for his stability! It's not my fault that I operated on a raving loon!") then you could probably even type it and sign it yourself using names pulled out of the yellow pages ... 😱

I don't know, but there is always Thailand, where six months of HRT and full-time living are often good enough for SRS. For castration or penectomy, the requirements can be even less.
