Great to see that post putting things (dates) in perspective. As a History Instructor for many years, I have lived through most events since 1944. I still have my WW II War Ration cards while I was a baby!!!
I entered Boot Camp at the Naval Training Command at Great Lakes when Pres. Kennedy announced the placement of Soviet
missiles in Cuba and initiated a "Quarantine" of Cuba, which is known as the Cuban Missile Crisis to everybody else.

I also remember "Duck and Cover" drills in junior and senior high .
If none of those reading this post can't relate to what I mean, It was the "snow job" of the Government that we could protect ourselves against Soviet nuclear attacks by ducking under our desks at our local schools!
