Actually, a vacuum is a very nice thing to have. Consider the vacuum tubes in radios and the television. The following is true and my deep dark secret is that I am a NERD. in capital letters.
By the way - my secretary asked if this post had anything to do with uprights, hoovers and floors.

to quote:
James Clerk Maxwell 1831 - 1879) was recently quoted in publications from the University of Waterloo, Ontario.
It seams that Maxwell and other scientists were invited by Queen Victoria to explain the nature of a vacuum:
<P>"I was sent to London, to be ready to explain to the Queen why Otto Von Guericke devoted himself to the discovery of nothing, and to show her the two hemispheres in which he kept it, and the picture of the 16 horses who could not separate the hemispheres, and how after 200 years, W. Crookes has come much nearer to nothing and has sealed it up in a glass globe for public inspection.
Her Majesty however, let us off very easily and did not make much ado about nothing, as she had much heavy work cut out for her all the rest of the day."

Re: vacuum and it's effect on all of us!
is not really a vacuum device--it merely is a pressure differential device. To what degree is the space in a vacuum tube free of air?
This, of course, brings us to Henry Miller and Anais Nin. Would the world be a better place had either of them been "fixed"?
