Seems like the culture and government in that whole region has always revolved around power wielded by strongmen, and that the people there just accept it as the way things are.....put up with some despot until a new strongman kills the old one. The Shah had absolute power over Iran, the mullahs threw him out, and Khomeini assumed absolute power. Same in Egypt.....King Farouk, then Nasser, then Sadat, now Mubarak.......one strongman after another, eventually overthrown or killed. Maybe that's just the way they do things over there.

I don't think Saddam is crazy like that nutcase in Korea is crazy. Perhaps being in absolute control for a few decades warps your sense of reality, and he really does think he'll get out of this. Hitler, after all, believed he could still win the war late in 1944, when everyone could see all was lost. Maybe with dictators, no one is left standing who has the nerve to say, "you know, I think we're in trouble."

Technology and firepower not withstanding, this could be a very, very messy war. Someone once said that in war, when the first shot is fired, all the plans are tossed out and it's all improvisation.

The thing is, now you do not have to take Rush Limbaugh's word for it. It is in the mainstream press. Don't be fooled, however. He has had this all along, otherwise he would not have been able to open up this terrorist training thing so fast.

Saddam has always been a bad guy. But no one else thought it was worth destroying diplomacy and no one else was so frightened of the world as this current president.

Anyway, I was referring to the satellite pics on another post and the story transcript from the PBS Frontline website.

Anyway, the "gasbag" paid for the satellite images to be put on the net. The company did not do those things for free.

But the real encouraging thing here and the one that gives me the impression that you all still have an open mind is that in Mr. Rash Limberger you have almost all indicated that I have found somebody you hate worse than you do Mr. Bush.

That, good fellows and friends, is encouraging. Now I have high hopes for you all.

Well i dont listen to Rush but i do watch Bill Oriley and he says the same thing that Saddam Insane has traning camps .As for Bush i think we all should be glad he is our leader.just think if we had that other guy that ran with Bush what was his name .It would not have been good for America but that is just my fellings.

That you are so closed minded that you can't recognize the truth when you hear it doesn't mean it's not the truth. Rush injects his show with humor, therefor you have to be able to recognize a little concept I like to call 'satire'.
