Charlie was so kind to post the first two chapters of his Book.

Although this is not a castration story you will feel yourself at home immediately if you enjoyed Charlie's former work.

I've ordered the book but, of course, I couldn't resist reading the first two chapters online.

In those first two chapters the story's heroes face a tragedy which will change their lives forever. Considering Charlie's former stories you can imagine what hardships those boys will have to face with no other weapon than their mutual love and dedication.

But we know, Charlie's heroes are strong, so there is always hope for a happy end.

And the best thing: You don't have to read this story online but you can also buy the book, hold it in your hands and put it on your book shelf.

Charlie has really done it! I hope, other EA authors will follow him.

The Commitment is a powerful and compelling story. Charlie at his best. The storyline sucks you in and holds you till the very end. I found it impossible to put down, and finally finished it at 5:30 a.m. on a day that I knew I had to be up at 6:30 to head for work! At 671 pages, it’s a massive read, but one that you’ll certainly enjoy if you have enjoyed any of Charlie’s other stories on the Archive. There’s even mention of the castration of a twelve year-old boy on pages 551 – 552 to keep it relevant to Archive readers. It adds power to the horror of Mark’s rather light-hearted description of his duties as the doctor’s assistant.

While I agree with Krister that the end is a bit too abrupt, pursuing all of the potential opened by the storyline would have resulted in something well over 1000 pages. I would have happily read it (and still wished for more), but the book is probably already pushing the limits for publication.

BUY THE BOOK!!! This is a great one, and it’s by one of our own. Recommend it to friends and acquaintances. Prepare yourself for a few days of pleasure as you immerse yourself in the world that Charlie has created.

Interesting comments!

Thanks, guys, not only for your kudo's but the criticism as well. Krister and Jesus, your comments that the ending is "abrupt" are much more profound than you probably realize. In fact as I wrote the last two or three chapters I had the thought in the back of my mind that "I've got to end this thing!"

So now I've learned something, and so you can expect the published version of "Andy," assuming it gets that far, to be even longer because I will not end it until it's done.

Again, thanks to all on the archive who have encouraged, supported and criticized. Writing has become more of a passion for me than I ever would have believed. I love my "created" characters, and I love my readers! Folks here on the Archive have given me so much!

The commitment by Charlieje was totally a mind blower. I couldn't put it down. I was so completely captured by it. It was very well done, excellent and heart warming. It had you on the edge of your seat one minute and in tears the next. It was the ultimate revenge/justice story that I would like to see put into a movie. I highly recommend that everyone take the opportunity to read it now while it is still being offered as I am sure it will be going on book shelves very soon. It will be nice to know that we got first dibs on it before the general public gets a shot at.

Charlieje's The American Prince was just absolutely wonderful. This is my second time to read his work and have been totally hooked with each novel. The Commitment was the first of my experience with Charlieje's work. This is where I became addicted to his style. Each one completely held me captive, unable to put it down to tend to other matters. The American Prince was so vivid as to appear visually in the mind as if viewing a movie and sitting on the edge of your seat. I found myself locking onto it as if it really was happening before my eyes and I didn't want to look away for fear of missing a scene.

There was one area in the epilog that I would have liked to have seen introduced. The Mom and Tony. Tony was brought back into the story very briefly during the search and then just disappeared and was never mentioned again. The mom was never mentioned after she left in the beginning. I just felt that some mention of them in the epilog would have finalized it fully. That is just the romantic in me. Maybe nobody else saw it that way.
