What do ya'll think of forced chemical castration for violent sex offenders? Like child molesters and whatnot? Is that a viable option for society? Would it really solve anything?

My own opinion would be "no". It makes castration "punishment", not "treatment". This would make it harder to gain acceptence for castration to be an elective procedure, without the need for therapist letters, psychologist letters, and so on.

on this matter. I work with violent offenders. Castration is not going to solve the problems these offfenders have. They may not get erections, but they will find ways to hurt other people. What happens with these offenders has to do with more that testosterone. :

Regardless of your views on this subject I think we will be hearing more about it in the future. In CANADA the parole boards are over 50% women and it almost a requirment for offenders to enroll in some type of sex reduction program before they are considered for early release. Chemical castration is the most common choice for offenders but the board prefures offenders opt for surgical option because of costs. I saw a interesting show on tv about this, 3 offenders were followed through the program. All three eventually finaily choose the prefured method and had the procedure. Two of the three had wives who agreed with the that it was for the best and encouraged their husbands to accept it. All but one had been on a chemical sex reduction drug before they were castrated and all agreed the surgical option is he best method to acheve their goals. The doctor that eventually did the procedure didn't have a probem with it at all. He considered it the safest and most effective way of deaing with the offenders. The dep. of he with corrections don't have any problem finding doctors willing to administer the treatment. The offenders are quietly removed from the prison and taken to a clinic under guard prepped, and castrated, all in less than 3 hours. Its a public safety issue and I don't have a problem with offenders being castrated. Mabie when the nurse is prepping the offender for castration and tapes his penis to his belly to expose the testicals for removal he will realize the seriousness of his crimes

I wonder if anyone here has ever gotten castrated by a doctor in Canada on an elective basis.

i was casterated in texas im a sex offender (first time) i was a minor when i did my offence ,my mom sighn to have me done ,this way i only did 2 yrs in prison instead of life

.its the best thing that could have happen , of course at time i did not think so but i do now

iv completly changed im quite calm i dont argu i do as im told im completly submissive to everyone

i was take from prison to a clinic and done then put back in prison population same day

i had a rough time ,but i survive it

i had to pleasure alot of the others after they saw i had no balls or sac

but thats prison life

im home now my mom takes care of me

i dont no whats in the future for me

im very fem now

and i lost my desire for little boys
