I'm often asked to give a BRIEF summery of the effects of castration. I've put together the following list for comment. Additions, corrections, amendments, whatever...I want to make a list that is concise and precise. Thank you for your help.

🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 🙇 Some side effects of castration are:

The Eunuch calm, with reduced or eliminated thoughts of sex and aggression

Reduced libido, sometimes resulting in total asexuality.

Weight gain, including subcutaneous body fat. The skin becomes softer and smoother

Loss or thinning of body hair, but male pattern baldness halts. Loss of body odor.

Loss of lean muscle mass (hence muscle weakness, increased fatigue, loss of stamina)

Mild breast development, some fat around hips and thighs

The penis will shrink

Hot flushes

POSSIBLE moodiness, tearfulness, depression

There MIGHT be cognitive losses, mostly in spatial orientation and short term memory.

The worst side effect is osteoporosis.

So I've rewritten the paragraph to include your suggestions. Here is how it looks now. Still seeking improvements.

If this were true, would you even realize it?

Yes, some of my friends in ASM (alt.support.menopause) have noticed this in themselves, and others have had it pointed out to them by friends.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

And even our own Sherry has had some experience of this.

accurate. 😲 Because I still have testicles, I can say that they too shrink with the loss of testosterone. I had a high spatial intelligence. I'm fairly certain that it has fallen with the loss of testosterone.

I was shaved for my recent operation. Only thin, soft, almost childlike body hair has returned. Your observations about fat also fall into place.😱

I'm fat enough to become a Thanksgiving turkey, not simply being my usual turkey self. 😄

Even the shots have not really made much difference thus far. 😠

Just as it takes time for the eunuchoid features to develop, it will take time for them to be reduced. Perhaps you might help things along with a diet and exercise program?

I have noticed that my oily skin is gone, its not dry but what I would call normal.

I also had night sweats.

Nipples became tender and sensitive but only for about 3 months.

Hair is starting to grow again on my bald head

Not sure about the eunuch calm, I have not had any experience of that.

Short term memory loss.

Also Andrew, we should also be listing things that you should do if your a eunuch or thinking about it.

Bone scan every 2 years, mine will be every year as I have Osteoporosis, I take a pill once a week.

A good excerise program to, reduce the fat and get the mussel tone back but also it helps the bones.

Healthy diet, but you already know that, in Eunuchs it is more important. Remember to eat your greens.

Menopause, much of the thnigs listed are just that.

See your doctor on a regular basis as this is a life altering hormonal change.

Looking for more to add to the list

Perhaps, in light of everything, a larger emphasis upon the possibility of depression? Especially since it seems that those who already suffer it, or are prone to it, are MUCH more likely to get it worse, and for longer, after castration.

It's a shame there hasn't been much research yet done on andropause. Most docs seem completely ignorant about it, and few are willing to admit such a thing exists. At least, that goes for most of the docs I've seen.

Oh yes, regarding the depression part of the equation, I recall someone (I forgot who) on this forum mentioned that he knew two people who wanted to get castrated, did so, but ended up getting depressed about it and killed themselves?

What happened with those guys, anyway?
