It's Time for a Reminder ... to all Prospective Authors

Post by Paolo »

This week has been the absolute worst, as far as mutilated and mauled over story submissions.

I really hate to do it, people, but I can't spend hours on end polishing up story submissions. I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again now.

Stories that are submitted that are a one-CHUNK block of text will be deleted. This is easily overcome by being careful of when you hit ENTER when typing it up. If you hit ENTER, you get a paragraph break, or double space. PC's wrap words, so don't hit ENTER all the time. The computer will do that FOR you.

Punctuation - use it. Carefully. It's so nice! However, seeing this,,,,,isn't nice at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instant deletion.

Spelling - Please use a spill chekcer. While nut totally acccurate, they doo help. It's hard two read a storee where thingz are misspelledd. We all make typo's, indeed, but some of these things are getting out of hand.

Your email - if there's any doubt, put your user ID or email in the text, please, or use the enhanced submission form. I hate looking people up or having to make a public posting. I really do.

Emotions - ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I hate seeing things like this, and from the email I get, so do a lot of other people.

Conversation, quotes -

He said, "OK," with a grin.

Paragraph break.

"OK, I will," she agreed.

Paragraph break.

NOT this:

"OK, can you do it?""Yes, I can.""Check it you mean?""Yes, this is hard to read, isn't it?""Yes, it is."

I'm not trying to humiliate or hurt anyone here. Honestly. We want the stories to be easily readable, and neat looking. We want to be better than other fiction sites, and not have all kinds of wild spacing and fonts and things that are impossible to read.

Thanks in advance, and to those I wrote to, please try it again. Get a beta reader if you have to. I'm sure that some members here would be happy to help if you like.

If you would like to BE a beta reader, please let me know.

Hi All,

I particularly enjoyed this posting by Paolo. Quite took me back to my schooldays when I remember my English teachers saying much the same thing.

I now realise that every single word of it is absolutely true. I would go so far as to say that if you are unable to write clearly in you own language, English in this case, with good spelling, grammar, punctuation and choice of words then you are seriously disadvantaged whatever your role in life.

Kortpeel, I doubt your teacher was thinking about erotic fiction when she suggested you learn to write well.

She may not have been thinking about erotic fiction, but she certainly taught Kortpeel to write well!

Any potential Archive writers who are uncertain about their style, grammar, spelling can easily submit a piece to one of the “editors” who should be volunteering for service.

Darn right she wasn't. She would have called this site a total abuse of English.

She was youngish, had a good figure and magnificent boobs of which she seemed embarrassed. She was inclined to stand with her arms folded in front of her to hide them.

When she wrote on the board her arse shook beautifully. The consequence of that was that 12 year old boys in short pants sat there with a hard on. Would you believe that some of those little perverts sat their with their pricks sticking out of the ends of their pants. I can personally vouch for it.

what mammaries...er...make that memories!

I had an English teacher once in JR High with HUGE boobs.

She used to hang them over the desk while she bent over to comment on my papers.

It was all I could do to keep myself from taking a huge, frothing bite out of one of them!!!

:boobies: 😲 🙃 🙃 😲 :boobies:

Come on Bboy! You need to indulge us straight geezers sometimes too. I was wondering if Kortpeel and I had the same 6th grade teacher. She sure sounds just like mine.
