The headline reads correctly, Yesterday I visited the website of
www.srsmiami.com on the website Dr. Reed discusses doing MTF surgery, but when I called him, I requested if he could do full nullo and re-route the pee hole, he said he could and would. He requires a letter and phone call from a physcologist and phycatrist. But its worth it. Theres another option for those who want to be nullo but dont want to travel around the world.

The price looks good, too: He charges $5000 for MTF SRS. I'm guessing that the price for nullification would be less or equal to that, since nullification is a much simpler procedure.
He does require two recommendation letters though, and the psych must have known the patient for at least six months.

This is good news that we have someone in the US for this. Thanks for sharing.
The full price for M2F SRS is actually $5000 plus $2500 for the second stage, which is labiaplasty. Some surgeons can do the SRS as a single stage, but historically, it has been two staged. Quote from
http://www.srsmiami.com/ :
Fee for 1st stage surgery: $5,000
Labiaplasty can be performed 3 months later on an outpatient basis at our Florida state registered office facility. This will complete feminization of the vulva and optimize sexual appeal.
Fee to include surgery, use of facility, and anesthesia: $2,500.
Dr. Reed is a member of HBIGDA, so he requires the two letters from pshrinks. This is standard for SRS surgeons.
I wish you the best!
Hugs,
Kelly

Whoa... $5000 for SRS? Are you SURE that's not a misprint? That would be half (or less) of what US or Canadian surgeons charge, and less than it would cost in Thailand..
If that's true, then he may very well be the most inexpensive SRS surgeon available, and he's about to get very busy as word spreads around the TS community.

Involving two psychologists/psychiatrists is not worth the effort except the most dedicated or the most talented deceiver.
In other words, unless you are willing to jump through a lot of hoops and gatekeeping or lie your way, the proceedure better be very important to you to torture yourself with contact with the mental health profession. That is in part why this term I'm taking an acting class: to fake my way through the letters because psychologists cannot accept that a 22 year old can change gender presentations and assimilate as well as I did while they insist that my perspectives towards my family, which I will probably never see again, and the abusive past I share with them must somehow be ameliorated by means other than repression until a time in the future (about the time when hell freezes over).

Yes Pel2, that is his fee for the surgery.
I contacted Dr Reed over a year ago asking questions about his work. I did recieve a prompt answer from him. I was told the reason he charges so little is to aquire a good reputaion. He has been doing male oriented surgery since the 70's and has now turn his skills towards helping transsexuals. He also told me that his fee may go up in the future. The last time I was in contact with him, the waiting list was only about 6 weeks (as compared to around 18 months for some other north american surgeons). I don't know how many SRS surgeries he has done to date (last year it was about 35) and the only reason I am hesitant of going to him is I haven't heard much comment on his work. I feel that SRS is an important surgery, it's one I would feel better having done by someone that has a good reputaion for it.

My husband recently had surgery via Dr. Reed, and we were both very pleased at the professionalism, as well as the kind way we were both treated. Dr. Reed makes visits to the hotel after surgery to check on all his patients, which is unusual in this day and age.
If you have the surgery, DO NOT GO ALONE. You will need help in the follow up days as you will be confined to bed. The Bay Harbour Inn is the place that most people stay, and it is close to a Publix, as well as numerous restaurants that will deliver.
If you would like more information you may email me at

Incidently I am posting under my husband's account
