...remember when I made the remark about nobody is being kidnapped and forced into etc., etc....

Well, it looks like I was wrong...

kidnapped minors forced into prostitution (http://channels.netscape.com/ns/news/st ... tm&sc=1110)

...and it probably won't be the last time that I am wrong, either.

😡 😱 😢 Unfortunately, this all seems possible. I am trying to remember the author of the book "The Perfect Victim." Before I read the book, I found the theme of a kidnap victim agreeing to the abuse hard to accept. After reading the book, I wondered how often women do endure such abuse. 😠

Actually, victims identifying with their kidnappers is not that uncommon.

Remember Patty Hearst? She was kidnapped and the the next thing you know is that she was spouting off revolutionary propaganda and holding a gun during a bank robbery.

I think that the name for it is the Stockholm Syndrome. The victim rationalizes the assailant behavior and internalizes it. The next thing that you know they are identifying with their kidnapper.

It is a type of survival behavior.

Read about it here...

Capture - bonding ; attention - reward. (http://human-nature.com/nibbs/02/cults.pdf)
