As time goes by I've become more and more doubtful about Dubya. But surely he didn't really say those things?

Did he?

Are you sure this is the right guy to sort out Mr. Hussein?

As I am not an American citizen, no I did not vote for him. Nor did I vote for our fart-sucking Prime Minister who wants to involve us in America's Oil War. Make no mistake, this shit is about the American greed for oil and the raping of the rest of the world for the American interest. God help you when retribution comes, because no-one else will

Personally I will hate it, because I have never met an American I did not like, but your government is fucked!

Before it even starts, I'm not going to tolerate another fire-fight on this board over George W. Bush, nor will I tolerate any American-bashing.

Personally, I didn't vote for him. I don't like his policies, and I'm sure I wouldn't like him if I met him in person. (He said with a grin while flipping a wrist in his general direction.....)

Now I WOULD be willing to discuss this in The Cellar, since it's not a joke at all and the original post was. That's IF we can do it rationally and calmly, though, without hurling mud and blood and insults at one another.

I agree, our government IS fucked up. Most are, but ours is pretty big and more prone to fuck-up-ed-ness.

I'm also glad to hear that you haven't met an American you didn't like. Still, let's try and keep the hostilities to a bare minimum.

Did he REALLY say those things? I dunno, I wish you had attached the actual sources of the quotes. (I sure had a blast reading them, true or not. 😄 ) Anyway, regardless of the post's veracity, I have a few things to say. I'm not an american, but I think that the greatness of America is not to be based on its presidents. The American people are largely responsible for the successes they've had in the past, and only a small amount of it should be attributed to their leaders. As to your post, Dehk, greedy for oil or not, Iraq has some serious shit to answer for, and the rest of the world, not just the US, is in a great amount of danger as long as Sadam holds power. We should ALL be involved in this, not just skulking around and staying on the presumed safe side. The USA is not the only one in danger here, and the responsibility to protect our nations is in all our hands.

(and why am I discussing international issues in the jokes section? ❓ )

Come to that Dehk, I've never met an Australian I didn't like.

So how come I get so negative about Australia's bloody cricket team?

Well, I guess that you are entitled to your opinion.

Our government has done some pretty lousy things, but no worse than any other.

Most of the protection of American interests by the CIA and so forth were to prevent the nationalization of assetts that were investments in countries. You know, like Castro did in Cuba.

As for the so-called "oil war", I would like to know what country in the world can get along without oil.

Well, all of that aside, we all love Aussies, too.

Most of the greed comes from the corporate and stock-trading riff raff. The old money barons have died and their descendents are living off of the interest that is being paid on the proceeds of the sale. The majority of us are paycheck - to - paycheck folks.

I could not agree more with the replies to my original post. Wars are only caused by Old men, sending in young Men and Women to die for their money. Ordinary people do not cause wars, they die in them.

As to the Australian Cricket Team, Who gives a shit? Any idea of Sport for Sports sake disappeared long before I was born. And that does not just include cricket. I refer any interested people to the 1936 Olympics held in Nazi Berlin, where blacks, gays, anyone not according to the "majority" ideal were at best denigrated, and at worst massacred.

I do not much care for myself, as I have AIDS, but I do care for the World and its beautiful people

Further to my last post, I wish to Stress that I am not anti-American per se. What I am anti is anyone including all religeous fundamentalists imposing their views on other people. This shit is now going on here. We used to be proud of being a multi-cultural, multi-faith society. Thanks to 11 September and 12 October, we are now being governed by fear and bigotry. Our ordinary Muslim citizens are being abused and vilified. Our ordinary Christian Citizens are being rabble-roused by the fundamentalist right. Buddists have so far been left alone

So far no one has decided to blame the gays, but it is only a matter of time.

This is frankly very scary! I have not spend most of my life fighting for Gay and other Human Rights to see it all destroyed by a bunch of Terrorists.

I see our Governement trying to restrict our Rights, I see your Government trying to restrict your Rights.

This must STOP!

You do not fight Terrorism by destroying the Rights of the Ordinary People.

Enough Rant, I hope every one has A Happy Christmas or if that is not your faith has enjoyed Eid, Hannuckah, Dewali etc.

Apologies to any faith I have left out

Ian!

It is high time that you started caring for yourself!

You know, AIDS is not necessarily a death sentence today. If you do not have a serious condition brought on by AIDS and you just have generalized infections and the failing immune system there is hope.

With the right medical attention and care it is possible to beat the virus back into a chronic, treatable condition.

You can get your T-4 cell count back up to normal. YOU CAN LIVE SOME MORE!

I don't care if you are indigent, get yourself to a medical teaching facility and get help. Pronto!

Make TODAY count. Start living in the present and not in the past or future.

You cannot even begin to make a difference if you are dead.

Don't make me come down to Australia and look you up!
