The daily grind goes on. Last Monday I sent payment #6 (of 36) for $375 to the Chapter 13 Trustee. This is the third week without overtime money. I continue to work with newcomers to AA in getting through their first Christmas season sober. Family and friends, knowing of my financial crimp and my inability to send presents for the next three years, keep sending me Christmas presents anyway. Itยs embarrassing. The latest was a cuckoo clock, and another was a set of ยHealing With The Fairiesย Oracle cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.
Pearlyยs old heating pad #1 on my bed beside the pillow remains unused. Pearlyยs preferred bed is now #3, the one on the sofa, A Drs. Foster & Smith Thermo Bed, size 26ย x 29ย, green. This is also the one she will be on when I return home from work, since that is when I bring out the catnip, put a bunch on the bed, and she goes into catnip heaven as I pet and caress her. After about ten minutes of this I am allowed to go to my computer to catch up on E-mail and Newsgroups.
Later she will make it clear she wants another play session with Da Bird. These tend to last 10 to 15 minutes. Other times when I am on the computer she will jump on the chair next to mine where heating pad #2 is, a Drs. Foster & Smith Deluxe Heated Pet Bed, 12 x 24, white fleece. This way I can pet her with my left hand whilst the right hand manipulates the mouse. She will also be on this pad at 5 AM, when I wake up, since she knows I will be on the computer soon to again check E-mail and Newsgroups.
Brother Michel was over this morning to help me set up the new cat tree, which I assume Pearly will ignore for some time. I moved the unused heating pad #1 from my bed to the base of the cat tree. If Pearly doesnยt use it, the next cat might. Yes, I am now looking for a second cat, with the restriction that this cat, like Pearly, will have to be on a diet of Hills Prescription Diet Feline K/D dry food. This may take some time.
The main reason Brother showed up this morning was to take pictures of Pearly. Alas, Pearly promptly dived under my bed. As a former feral, she still does not trust any humans except me, and I have no idea if this will ever change. Mike was able to get a clear picture anyway, and you can see it atย

He left me the camera, and Iยll be trying to take more pictures as the week rolls by. I plan to spend the rest of today just relaxing with Pearly. I tried that oracle deck, asked the Fairies what they wanted me and Pearly to do, and the card came back ยQuiet Timeย. So weยll just idle the afternoon away with each other.
