Concerning "Eu."

Post by Andrew (imported) »

I seem to remember that a couple of years ago we had a thread about the use of "Eu." in place of "Mr."

Well, I had to move last September, so I finally got around to ordering new return address lables and new business cards with my new address and phone number. AND I decided, at the last minute, on a whim, to use "Eu" rather then "Mr". They arrived yesterday, and it will be interesting to see what, if any, reactions I get.

Although I cannot remember who first proposed the idea. Anyone want to take the credit?

I found this in one of the yahoo mail groups.

I am a 61 year old who lost his testicles as a result of injuries in

Vietnam back in '66. I do consider myself a "Eunuch" and am quite

open about the fact. As you probably see, I have adopted the

prefix "Eu." that I use rather than "Mr.". I hope that this is

alright and that in no way does it offend anyone here. I hope that we

can share our experiences regardless of what we may choose to call

ourselves. Thanks.

Is it possible?

Sorry that I have been away from the PC for so long. I hope that everyone is in good health. I was informed of the prefix "Eu." (pronounced 'You' or 'Eunuch') several years ago by a lady who was my Nurse at Walter Reed Army Hospital. I became a Eunuch as a result of the side effects of heavy medications taken for severe malaria in 1966. I have always been open about myself being a `Nuch and using the prefix rather than "Mr." has never been a problem. I find it recognized in many places now. I have written to my Nurse in hopes that she may shed some light on the prefixes origin and I will post the answer when I recieve it.
