OK! To business...

I have long been fascinated with castrati and know (obviously) of the effects of prepubertal castration of boys - producing eunuchs of course - but what about the other sex?

Does anyone know what the effects are of prepubertal castration (ovaries) are on a girl in terms of sexual development, sex drive and height etc assuming that no hormone replacement was given?

I know that there is a medical condition called 'Turners Syndrome' in which the ovaries do not develop properly and this requires sex hormone replacement and growth hormone in some cases but I have not been able to find any documented cases in which no hormones were given (such as a historical case before hormone replacement existed). I have also read an article which claims that the ancient egyptians know how to castrate girls entering puberty to produce a prostitute that could not become pregnant. I find this difficult to believe in that the mortality rate must have been horrendous even if they did know which parts to remove and could do so without causing mortal injuries.

Does anyone else have any more information on this subject or know where I could find out about it?

As an aside, I did enjoy the female circumcision story (The Orphanage) and wondered if there were any other excerpts from this...
