1. (fard) obligatory, must do as not to offend Allah

2. (mandub) actions that are meritorious or recommended by Allah.

3. (mubah) --permitted--neither good nor bad but neutral.

4. (makruh) reprehensible, but not subject to punishment.

5. (haram) absolutely forbidden under pain of punishment.
