Dear all,
I would like to share my experience in order to maybe help others.
After long consideration I finally have done a voluntarily orchiectomy in order to lower my sexual drive this week.
I have done it in Bangkok, in Bumrungrad International hospital with Dr. Thiti and I am very satisfied about the high professionality of the hospital.
According to Thailand law I had to do two meetings with different mental health doctors so that they give me a certificate that I am of full mental health and allowed to do this voluntarily surgery. The hospital organized this for me on the same day. One talk was finished after 10min, the other took one hour and that doctor challenged my wish, but that was only fair considering the consequences.
After that I had consultation meeting with the surgery doctor, a Hormon doctor for post surgery treatment and a short physical check up regarding surgery under aenestetics. All on the same day and two days later the surgery.
Surgery took one hour plus two hours recovery in the hospital.
I only feel little post surgery pain, everything was done in a very good way.
Cost of pre-surgery evaluation/consultation and surgery itself around 180,000 Baht (roughly 5,000).
So not very cheap, but I highly appreciate the cleaningness and professionality of the hospital. Everything was done well and in short time so also the necessary on-site time in Bangkok could be limited to around 7-10 days.
I am very glad to have chosen this place for my long desired treatment and therefore wanted to share my experience with others.
Any questions please feel free to ask.

Re: Experience sharing orchiectomy in Bangkok
I am very glad if my experience sharing can help others!
Currently I am feeling very good, but the surgery is just a few days ago, so it’s still too early to say.
But at least so far the wound healing is very good and I nearly don’t feel any pain.

You are probably taking painkillers...
In any case, I wish you a quick and complete recovery!

Thank you very much! The doctor prescribed one pill Arcoxia per day and one pill Tylenol every 6 hours. But taking the Arcoxia was enough so far, did not have to touch the Tylenol yet luckily.

Re: Experience sharing orchiectomy in Bangkok
I started by sending out general inquiries to several hospitals in Thailand by email using the contact I found on their webpages. The Bumrungrad Hospital customer service replied in a very professional way explaining the possibilities and different steps. They connected me then to their plastic surgery department and they then organized a telematic
Then I did a lot email conversation with the plastic surgery reception desk and they helped me to arrange all necessary meetings (mental health counseling, Hormon therapy consultation, surgery pre-check, surgery itself). So nearly all communication went by email and the hospital arranged everything for me. They even organize airport pick up and drop of to your hotel via a shuttle service. I saw a lot of international patients going to this hospital for all kind of medical treatment and surgeries. They also have a good App in which your appointments and medical data (e. g. Blood test result and medical certificates) are displayed.
(2,000 Thai Boat, appr. 50€).

Re: Experience sharing orchiectomy in Bangkok
I used to live in Thailand as an American expat for 13 years. Bumrungrad Hospital is one of the most popular hospitals for foreign expats. Their costs are high but services comprehensive. They have translators for just about any language you can imagine. They do a lot of "Medical Tourism," treating many patients from Asia and the Middle East.
I myself liked Bangkok Hospital better. They are just as helpful and popular with foreign patients. But their specialty medical practices in many other areas are far better than Bumrungrad. For example, their heart center occupies two buildings (where they saved the life of one of my friends). Their cancer center is one of the best in Asia (second to Japan). And I believe they have a transgender center, taking up an entire floor of one of their buildings. In addition to the medical facilities, another reason why I liked Bangkok Hospital over Bumrungrad is that Bangkok Hospital doctors come across as more professional as medical doctors and less "hard sell" as though they are running a business. Bumrungrad sometimes gave me the impression that they are drumming for more business (for example, ordering far more tests than perhaps medically necessary), albeit, when Bumrungrad is giving medical treatments, they too do a good medical practice. And the nurses and support staff at Bangkok Hospital treated us like family.
The rooms at both hospitals are like 5-star hotels, and the food was actually good. Both hospitals offer many nice restaurants inside. Generally, you will be in good care in either of these hospitals.
