By Jonathan C. David

This book is an autobiographical work, in which the author details events from his life that were colored by fantasies (if not obsessions) about castration. This isn't a novel-length story that one would expect to read on the Fiction Archive for sexual gratification. Instead, it is a very personal and in-depth confession of sorts. It explored the fantasies to some extent, and how he acted upon some of them in his search for explanation and understanding.

Readers will certainly find, while going on this journey with the author, some (if not many) of the same thoughts and beliefs that the author explains. Numerous times, I found myself thinking, as I was reading, "I've felt/thought exactly that!"

Certainly, not everyone will have experienced the same things, but I believe that many will understand the mindset discussed in this book. It's a very interesting read that will likely provoke some - if not several - realizations in the reader who shares the same fantasies, thoughts, or even plain academic interests in the subject of castration/emasculation fantasies.

It is a deeply personal work, and one that - I believe - took a great deal of bravery and self-respect to write and put out there for the world to see. It's an important reference, I believe, for the Bibliography here.

The Eunuch Archive is not receiving funding from this work, nor are we promoting it. If you want to order a copy, that is purely up to you!

Tucker Lieberman has posted a long review of Jonathan David’s book on Medium.com. I won’t post it all here, as it runs to seven pages when I printed it out. Instead, I’ll post the opening section and a link to the entire review for those interested in the book. The review and the book are well worth reading.

We’re all looking for something, and it doesn’t have a name. Many of us try to find it through sex and relationships. As we search for it, we try to explain what it is.

Of course, if we knew what it was, and if it were concrete — a song and dance, or something we could order at a store — we could just go and get it. We wouldn’t have to chase after another person to plead with them to give us this mysterious fulfillment.

I’ve been revolving what I see in Jonathan C. David’s new memoir, The Flower From a Poisoned Seed (https://amzn.to/3F8aBD4) (2023). He describes what he was looking for, as a gay man: some desires named, others unnamed.

He knew he was a man who liked men. He appreciated male bodies. That was never in question for him. More, from a young age, he had a particular kind of bondage fantasy. He was troubled by it in part because he didn’t understand what it meant. He knew it was unusual, he felt ashamed of it, and he wasn’t sure to what extent—beyond fantasy, beyond role play—he truly wanted to make his own castration a reality.

Unfortunately they require you to create an account in order to read the review.... I avoid doing this on media sites since all it seems to get me is spam...
