Late January this year, I had to go to the ER due to serious swelling of my testicles and in general feeling sick, and complaining about VERY painful testicles.
It turned out I had a serious infection, and was hospitalized and got antibiotics intravenously. While hospitalized My testicles underwent ultrasound several times, and the doctors was very concerned when they saw the images. Eventually I Was discharged and sent home, but should continue with a heavy dose of antibiotics for another two weeks.
The doctor who prescribed the antibiotics did say, he wasnt sure if it would be of any use, but wanted to see if things improved anyway.
I also go a new date for another ultrasound after completion of antibiotics, and should have a bloodtest done too. Latest ultrasound was Friday last week, showed no improvements in my testicles. Blood test showed my testosterone level being 1.7nmol.
Got a call from the doctor yesterday, that they have decided to operate, and their recommendation was to take both out, since according to the blood test, neither was producing any significant levels of testosterone, and I was basically already castrated, and since I had this infection, they worried that if they only too the most damaged out, infection would come back again.
The reason they decided for both testicles and the inguinal method was due to my complaints about painful testicles so they wanted to take as much of the cords too, meaning both testicles will be removed inguinally, which I wasnt too exited about, due to the extra recovery time, and also because years ago I had a hernia repair on my right side, so I worried about complications. But my concerns were ignored, and I was told, this is how they do it.
Date of operation has been scheduled to March 17th. And one week prior to the planned operation I have to get another blood test done.
