Texas, Cold, & Power

Just spoke with a good friend in Texas, after reading the "gloom & doom" stories online.
With the exception of one small area, I am told by someone there, there is no power crisis in Texas overall. In one small area, yes.
So for anyone wondering, it's yet another hyped-up, sensational story.

I'll just say it wasn't last year when it got cold. I hope the utilities fixed the problems from back then.

Most of those issues have indeed been resolved, yet the media is still saying that basically, "Texas is doomed." Not so.

I think Texas is doomed for other reasons.

This is so typical of the sensationalistic (is that a word?) media.
I just a Red Alert for severe weather on my phone.
A clipper system is bringing us 1-2" of snow tonight. ONE to TWO inches.
My fucking truck can bust through 18" like it's dry pavement!
Seriously? A "SEVERE" weather alert for THAT?!
WTF is wrong with these people?
I say it's time to taking random idiots from various careers and turning them into cans of Spam.

I never did like Spam, though I would eat it in an emergency.
But if they start canning idiots, I could just imagine the other idiots lining up to get them.

I just don't like Texas. Never seen a part of it I'd consider living in. The last time I drove across it, I had to expend most of my energy keeping the car in the lane from high winds, and avoiding tumbleweeds. Seemed to be a miserable place.

I’ve lived most of my life in Texas but have traveled extensively around the country and world. I don’t ever recal seeing a tumble weed but I also haven’t spent much time west of Ft. Worth, Austin and San Antonio. My power never blinked once with the weather hitting 10f and 30 mph winds. With the exception of the 5 days or arctic hell 2 years ago, I’ve never had issues with power unless it was due to a hurricane.
