I have been suffering chronic pain in both testicles all my life as a result of a severe case of Mumps when I was seven years old. Doctors have not been helpful in treating and basically just want to prescribe pain killers. I am in a long term marriage and I had a vasectomy 30 years ago after the birth of our second child. I Have not had sex in over 25 years because of the pain and discomfort. I am convinced it is time to address this with surgery to correct. Is there anyone I can consult with in Florida that might consider this surgery?

I'd look for a transgender center near wherever you are in FL. I know you are not self describing as trans, but they are the folks that do almost of the work on gender modifications, including orchiectomies.

They may want to give you a label of "gender dysphoria" (aka having a dislike of the existing equipment) which mostly gives them a diagnosis to bill your insurance company with. It is possible that you may be required to undergo some period of chemical castration first, as that is the usual requirement under the recently released "SOC 8" standard protocols, but given that you have a history of pain, you may be able to get them to skip it or shorten the time.

You WILL need to be able to convince the doctors that you have fully studied, understand and are willing to accept the consequences and side effects of the surgery... Like any medical procedure they want you to go through an 'informed consent' process, and given the serious and irreversible effects of castration they are going to be extremely heavy on the 'informed' part of the deal... (Hint - study up a lot first, be able to recite the list that you will see in some of the intro posts about castration without much prompting....)

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search
