I got a surprise call from the TG center this morning. I had an appointment w/ a new doc scheduled for early December, as the doctor I'd been seeing left the center for other places... However they wanted me to come in today to see a new doc, who wasn't the one I'd originally been assigned to but seems like an OK person, who can handle both the gender stuff and the edocrinology / bone health issues.

Today we mostly just got acquainted and discussed my desires... According to her I need to be on hormones for a year before the insurance will pay for any surgery, so I still have several months to go...

I did get the expected blood draw for hormone tests, just got the results...

ESTRADIOL 125 pg/mL normal - 26 to 61 pg/mL

TESTOSTERONE <12 ng/dL normal - 249 to 836 ng/dL

So T is still at castrate levels, even after several months off the Lupron. The E seems rather high considering that I only want enough to maintain bone health, and DON'T want any more feminizing than I have to have. Will see what they say to do, my guess is to go back down to one patch at a time instead of two...

I got a clarification note from my doc in response to my asking...

In part she said (bold added)

The reference range is for cis men. For people on estrogen, the goal range is 80-200 so this is the perfect range for you. Please keep the patches as you are as 66 is too low.

This may be useful data to add to some of the reference threads - I don't think I've seen the ideal range for eunuchs doing E specified as explicitly, and when I look up the numbers for pre-menopausal women the norm seems to be a very wide range that varies w/ the menstrual cycle, so I wasn't sure what the E-level actually should be until now.

Thanks for the links to the Wikipedia articles. I am getting more breast growth than I'd like, but not excessive... I definitely notice it in the bathroom, but it is not to obvious under a T-shirt... I'm more annoyed by how tender / sore they are, mostly centered around lumps just under the nipples. The doc says that will go away but it may take a very long time to do so.
