Can I get a second opinion about this stitchwork? Some of the skin is dark and hard

Thank you, but on closer examination what seemed like dark skin was actually scab material, which surprised me. It didn't look like any scab I'd seen before, I could have sworn the night before it looked like normal, red, pinched skin.

No experience w/ castration type incisions (yet) but my experience after other surgeries has been that the top layers of skin along the incision line tend to die and turn dark / scabby. This sort of makes sense as the extremely fine capillaries that supply them with blood get disrupted by the incision, and there is no way they are going to get re-connected when they sew you back up... So the body has to rebuild the area around the incision and it does so from the inside working out to the surface....

So while I would be careful to watch out for any signs of infection or other problems, it is probably not a problem to worry about otherwise....
