I don't know what books my late mother might have been reading, but she clearly had the idea that little boys were routinely castrated and in time the same operation awaited me.

I'm certain that the most inconsequential events in childhood can drive decades of fetish interest. I've heard, and experienced it, too much for it to not be a huge factor in certain fetishistic interests.
