Achievement Unlocked: 2nd Letter!

Met with my psychiatrist today. Typical monthly thing that I do (I have a form of Autism called Aspergers) and we have been talking about surgery for a few (off and on with other day-to-day stuff). After my consultation, she is writing the letter.

So, I have the 2nd letter!
You have no idea the high I am riding! Who I kiddin', yeah you do!
She did say it will take her a couple days (due to patient load) for her to get it wrote up and emailed out, which is fine. UVA wanted it by April. So I think it will get there in time.
I still have to wait for insurance. That's the BIG hurdle in all of this. That could derail EVERYTHING. That's why I have a tentative surgery date and not one set in stone.

Plus, if insurance gets cranky, my previous psychiatrist said she will write a letter too. So, I've got letters on top of letters.
So, we wait. But, this is yet another hurdle cleared.

Congratulations! I've always wondered why people need to get 2 letters. I would think most people have 1 psychiatrist, so where is the second letter supposed to come from? Either way, great news!

The 2nd came from my case manager. That is enough since they are qualified as well.

I had a previous psychiatrist, but she left for a better paying job (more money, better hours) and she was already aware of what I was wanting before taking the job, so she was willing to put in the 3rd if needed. But the 2nd came from my case manager.

While I was lucky in how quickly I accomplished mine once the help was identified, keep in mind for most this is a marathon. Just keep at it and it WILL happen for you.

Congrats with your letters. I remember how great it was when I got mine. If you have input, make sure your providers use the term "medical necessity" or it's "medically necessary" for your health. This is the number 1 reason an insurance company will deny a procedure. I had it in 2 of my 3 letters and it helped in the end.
Keep us informed with your progress, from one nullo to another future nullo.

I honestly can't remember how my first one read. The second, though, she has written a number of them for GRS, so I think it will be OK. If I need my former psychiatrist for a 3rd, it will be written basically the same way.
I definitely will.

I have a pre-op appointment on May 17th (tentative, pending insurance) and surgery on June 2 (tentative, pending insurance). Plus, I'm in the running for a couple jobs at UVA/UVA Medical too, so I would be moving down there hopefully soon.
