It appears that over time hot flases do not disappear very quickly if they appear after castration. Sometimes they never go away.
--------------
A total of 77 men with prostatic carcinoma treated with orchiectomy or a gonadotropin releasing hormone analogue before September 1987 underwent evaluation by a questionnaire regarding vasomotor symptoms. Answers were received from 84% of the patients. Of 63 patients 43 (68%) reported hot flushes during treatment, while 30 (48%) still had flushes 5 years after treatment. Of the latter 30 patients 28 (median 7.6 years after treatment) had vasomotor symptoms at the time of the study. Only 13 of 43 men with vasomotor symptoms after the start of treatment had relief 5 years later. At the time of the study 13 of 30 patients (more than 40%) still had flushes 8 years after castration. Most men reported that the flushes presently had the same frequency and duration as when they started therapy. Contrary to the general belief that the symptoms disappear with time, our study highlighted a long persistence of hot flushes after castration.

Mine did after about 6 months. I tapered off the T over years. I had to restart because my liver would have exploded.

Never heard of such a thing. How? Why? Explain.

Alternatives - Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) :
Do regular exercise – regular physical activity can reduce hot flushes and improve sleep. It's also a good way of boosting your mood if you feel anxious, irritable or depressed. Weight-bearing exercises can help keep your bones strong.
Нave a healthy diet – a balanced diet can help ensure you do not put on weight and can keep your bones healthy.
Stay cool at night – wear loose clothes and sleep in a cool, well-ventilated room if you experience hot flushes and night sweats.
Cut down on caffeine, alcohol and spicy food, as they have all been known to trigger hot flushes.
Try to reduce your stress levels to improve mood swings, make sure you get plenty of rest, as well as getting regular exercise. Activities such as yoga and tai chi may help you relax.
Give up smoking if you smoke – giving up will help reduce hot flushes and your risk of developing serious health conditions, such as heart disease, stroke and cancer.

I started Androcur back in January of this year. I had my T levels checked recently when my doctor ordered a blood test after not seeing him since the covid thing started. My T level was 15 which is perfectly within the castration range and I have not experienced a single hot flash since I started the process. So not all of us get them thankfully. I feel pretty lucky in that respect. Outside of the Androcur side effects which I had to deal with mostly in the first 3 months before I dropped my dosage, the main side effect has been weight gain. I've gained 35 pounds of body fat since January and most of it went to my belly, butt and thighs. I've had some breast growth as well. It started with itchy nipples and developed from there. My body stores body fat differently now and my upper chest and bottom end is clearly showing it.
I did notice some cold sensitivity during the summer when the AC was on but now that the seasons are changing I'm not noticing anything unusual. My unwanted side effects were from taking Androcur at the higher doses. I felt my best on 25 mg per day and even better after I ran out. Without the Androcur I realized that I felt pretty normal without T in my system so I did some grain alcohol injections to get rid of my two little problems down below. They were looking rather shriveled and sad when I started and now you would have poke around a little to find what's left of them.

Which requires explanation?
Hot flashes ended about 6 months after I stopped T. I stopped in August 2018 and I was fine by March 2019.
The liver issue was caused by low T. Non-alcoholic fatty liver. I was 6 months away from chronic liver failure. I restarted T at the same level I was using about 8 years ago and my liver condition resolved in 6 months.
It is a known complication of low T. I am 43, I reduced my T level over about 6 years from the time I was 34 until 40.
Now I have to deal with the high hematocrit and red blood cell production from the T.

Have you experienced any mood swings during your off TRT period?
