I have been castrated for 7 years and I thinking of stopping HRT-I was wondering how other eunuchs like being free of T? Also was the transition very hard? I went a month before without them but the hot flash and night sweats never seemed to slow down. Right now, I am using a low dose of T but I am at the point where sex does not seem important and would love not having that drive.

I quietly do without testosterone many years in a row (at least more than 7 years). On

Early on I used the hormone treatment regularly. About 10 years ago I decided it was time to deal with abstinence from T. At first it was difficult -- lots of hot flashes that could last for a couple of hours - a cold bath helps a lot. After awhile the hot flashes stopped. I started seeing how long I could go without and T - I would last about 2-3 weeks and I was regretting my decision. Since that time I have been going for periods without, getting longer with time. I would start going 2-3 months and didn't seem to have any side effects that bothered me. My GP would regularly order T level tests, and then bitch at me for not using the T. I told her I didn't want it, and that the endocrinologist had ordered 2 mg of estrogen as a preventative against osteoporosis. She still bitches at me, but I always have a supply of T gel on hand if desired. I am currently trying to do 6 months without any carping and bitching. I feel fine; no hot flashes, doesn't affect my head as far as I can tell. We'll see what time brings.

I've had nullification surgery. Both the Transgender Surgeon who performed the procedure and my PCP, who surprisingly turned out to be LGBTQ friendly, say that you should be on sex hormones. Be it Testosterone or Estradiol for various reasons which you can research if you wish.

Since the biggest reason for my choice to have the Emasculation procedure done, was to kill off my libido which had gotten out of hand on Testosterone after my Orchie I was not interested in that route. So I take low dose Estradiol and it's made my life so much better; night sweats are gone, I'm much more laid back and do not "sweat the small stuff" anymore. Downside is weight gain and in my case, the Gynecomastia is not something I'm really fond of but will put up with it for the other benefits.

JMHO.....

I never had any HRT after castration. I was on antiandrogens for 3 years before so I already knew the effect. Strangely I never had many side effects other than the very obvious weight gain.

I agree that estradiol is a great way to go. An added benefit was learning that I'm loving everything about being a woman, so you never know where your path will lead.

Congrats on your very recent castration ! Please share your recent castration experience on here in a new post in these forums to help other men who are trying to decide whether to get castrated, and what to expect for men getting castrated. Thanks. Recent experiences like yours are ideal for answering other men s questions and for recently castrated men to help answer their questions.
