I’m getting a scrotectomy on 6/4/21 and I’m concerned about the weight gain I hear so much about. As someone who already struggles with weight issues, I just want to know if it can be controlled or if it just is what it is. Thanks.

I've had to battle my weight my full adult life. Now that I'm castrated it seems like it is harder to do so. But I've managed to stay about the same. But then I think age and declining physical activity has a lot to do with it as well. I've never been one of those gym going types.

I was castrated almost 21 years ago. At first I had no difficulty keeping the weight off -- I was using replacement T. In later years, I have frequently gone for 2-3 months without testosterone, but I get a lot of grief from my GP, so I use it again for a while. I have put on a bit of a gut, and am struggling to take it off -- but I keep running into blood glucose problems if I diet too much. I have also obtained a prescription for 2mg estrogen once per day. I weigh 195# (down from 220), and working on 165#. I keep trying but in a way I have resigned myself to the fact that I am getting older and I will likely have a gut for awhile.

I am 6 ft 1/2' and had my orchi at 220 lbs 3 years ago.

I am on Estrogen for 4 years and on Estrogen injections for 2 years.

My weight went up to 250 lbs in February and I have started a diet 101 days ago. Today I am at 214 lbs and the goal is 196lbs which is the upper limit for my height.

My motivation is that now my "C" size breasts are much more visible. C sounds a lot for a male but if you have 60 lbs extra fat under them they are almost invisible.

I'm confused. You say "scrotectomy" (removal of the scrotum) instead of "bilateral orchiectomy" (removal of both testicles). You can only get the first after undergoing the second. So no, removing your sack will actually reduce your weight by about an ounce.

Because of retirement, more sedentary activity lifestyle, and more proximity to food at home the year I was castrated, I too was concerned about weight gain and control. I initially gained some weight, then began intermittent fasting as a lifestyle, starting with fasting 12 hours a day, then increasing it 1 hour each week, getting up to 20 hours a day. I found my ideal is 18 hours a day, eating between 12 noon and 6 p.m. I seldom feel hunger during the fasting 18 hours, and do drink water and 2 cups of black coffee within the fasting period. I went from 218 pounds to 175 pounds over time, and my body has seemed to find and maintains an ideal weight. I eat sensibly, but that which I want without guilt or shame, and all I can say is that intermittent fasting works for my ideal weight maintenance for me. Try it and it may be your weight maintenance solution too!

After such a long time castrated and with intermittent T, I'll be curious to learn how you do on estrogen. For me it was fantastic. No problem with weight gain.

I was castrated 20+ years ago. My own experience is that it's difficult to keep weight off and retain one's figure with ageing, but it can be done with at least a good maintenance testosterone regime. I weighed ~155#s when castrated and now weigh ~140#s. I still have a paunch even at my weight - due to ageing and that I've been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia, but also told that surgical intervention won't be required unless it gets more critical. Now that we're almost at the summer equinox and I'm doing heavier and more things outside on our 3 ac parcel of land, I can hopefully shed a few more #s by summer's end.

With my recent castration a little north of 2 months now I still weigh the the same but my belly is obviously larger I'm 64 yrs old and started 2mg estrogen 11/2 months ago. I know its not my imagination I just think it's weird being summer time and more active.
