Progesterone added to HRT

Post by seanthomas (imported) »

A few weeks ago I added progesterone to my year-long regimen of estradiol and already I am noticing very favorable results. First my nipples had virtually exploded and although sensitive since starting estradiol, they are now super sensitive. This is most welcome as they are now incredibly erogenous and I have a hard time keeping my fingers off them. It also seems to have increased the sensual sensitivity to the area where my balls and scrotum used to be.

Another noticeable effect is I seem to be sleeping much better and my mood seems to be more mellow.

Has anyone else on this combination had similar results? If so, please tell me the welcomed affects are not transient as the body adjust.

Oral micronized progesterone has a known sedative effect and is recommended to take before bedtime. It’s very debatable but theorized to counter some estrogen effects yet sensitizing the E2 receptors which is why it’s supposed to be better to cycle it so that you have about a week per month where your system is progesterone dominate which balances things and gives more health benefits to both hormones as they cancel out negative side effects of each other. Not settled science though.

Thanks. It seems a lot is unsettled in the hormone arena. I had read much on the benefits of low dose estradiol for men castrated for PCa and yet my urologist was oblivious to the studies and refused to prescribe it for me despite the fact I had not used TRT for years. Another doctor was well aware of the benefits and wrote me a script. Recently I found another study that adding progesterone actually raised the libido and erogenous sensations in castrated men so I asked to try it. I'm using a cream as the oral route is contraindicated for the same reasons I can't use TRT (high red blood count and liver enzymes).

Hi

Would very much like to read that study if you still have it or have the link to it.

Also what cream are you using? Name, dose etc.

Many Thanks

I've used progesterone and had a similar experience. Nice breast growth and they're full and permanent. My nipples are fully female. I also have a hard time keeping my hands off of my boobs, not because it's sexual. It just feels good. I understand that I'm releasing oxytocin and that induces a calming, pleasant sensation. We who have breasts are so fortunate. I took antidepressants some years ago, but now all I need is to massage my breasts and nipples.

I subscribe to the Dr. Will Powers method for Micronized Progesterone use. His methods seem to be revalutionary in the field of transgender medicine and the approach to TG care. Mainly his use of micronized progesterone has gotten him a lot of attention within the TG community. Whereas WPATH endocrinologists seem to refer to studies done in the 1980s, his practice does not subscribe to those long held beliefs that progesterone is not needed for breast development in men. In fact, he pretty much is the hottest thing going in the field of TG medicine, and his waiting list is over a year in length.

His group page on Reddit is worth a look, as is the numerous links on his “About” page. He has an in-depth power point presentation, as well as a two hour YouTube video (linked below) about his approach to TG care.

While this might not address all the questions in this thread about Micronized Progesterone, it is very informative for anyone who has questions about the use of Micronized Progesterone in regards to breast development. It’s worth a look.

I’m unsure about the use of links on the EA forum, but the YouTube video is titled, “Healthcare of the Transgender Patient (5/13/19)”

OUWB Faculty Development YouTube Channel

Fast Fwd to 0:55:22 for when he addresses the use of Micronized Progesterone, although the entire video is worth watching.

My DR put me on TRT and Progesterone. He said I needed progesterone to help me with sleeping better and it would counter the TRT from making me super horny. I just started with this Dr. as he does only men's health. I had a friend talk me into trying him out for a few months. So far, I am not sleeping better after 6 weeks. I can not blame my castration on me having trouble sleeping as I have had insomnia years before I was neutered. So I stopped the progesterone and now I am horny than I have been in a long time. I know for me my sex drive has been mental driven for years. I think I like it better that way. That is why I am considering stopping all hormonal replacement. I was using a small amount of T now and then before I started seeing him. I had a sex drive, but now I am thinking about sex all day and playing with myself every night and I am definitely more irritable. I think I liked myself the way I was more. Anyway, I guess I wonder off the topic a bit-sorry.
