Hail and Farewell - Part 1

Post by Atreyu69 (imported) »

It's seems that there hasn't been many new stories of late. What's going on? Am I the only one writing?

I've been working on the next installment of Tobin's Brat Camp and I think readers will be surprised and hopefully pleased with the new developments.

However last night I had another case of insomnia and the result was a story I call, Hail and Farewell - Part 1. It was just submitted and is something of a change for me. For those of you who read it I hope you'll do so with an opened mind.

Atreyu. 🙏

Inspired by the Ray Bradbury story? I think they made an episode of that for the "...Theater" TV show with Paul from "The Wonder Years", didn't they?

They did Hail and Farewell for TV but I didn't like that too much. The other boys were too nasty and the kid looked older than 12. I did however enjoy the radio play first aired on February 17, 1956. Here it is if you want to listen while doing you ironing. :)

...while doing you ironing. :)

I... really hope I'm not the only one here who has never owned, much less operated, an iron. Even though I could use one for dress shirts, which I wear maybe 6 times/year, and which I just spray with water then hang in the bathroom while I shower to get the wrinkles out.

So, I've never owned/used an iron, and I've also never owned/used an umbrella, either.

I feel those facts MUST be related. I'm not a toxically masculine guy or anything, I'm not ashamed of or irritated by either object...

… also, none of this is germane to the topic. I realize that. But I'm desperately high, nobody is home, and so, this.

I will say to you, Atreyu that I'm violently stoked re. the next chapter AND the new story; I'm caught up now on Brat Camp, love the mini-me adoption, and am invested to the eyeballs for our brothers-in-genitals. If the market crashes on the camp, I'll be rendered penniless.

And ya know what?

Someday, I'll iron a shirt while holding an umbrella, just to see.

As a boy, I learned to operate an old Maytag manual roller washing machine, trouser stretchers, and of course, an iron. I have to admit, I haven't used an iron in over thirty years! Probably more. My grandparents were very old-school in the late 60's, but my mother was all about 70's innovations like 'permanent press'.😄

Hey Atreyu69,

Your efforts are appreciated. I've been way busy with the aftermath of a hospital stay. However, those are slowing down and if I'd just be quiet and go along to get along, they would be even fewer. I have my 2nd Covid shot on May 1st and that may or may have some downsides. I had a sore arm and a bit of fatique after the first one.

I'm really looking forward to the Brat Camp stories I have not yet read. I will leave a comment that at least lets you know I've read them.

Hi TopManFL

I'm sorry to hear you were in the hospital but glad to hear you're out. I have my second COVID shot set for May 11th and I can't wait. I'm counting the days!

I'm glad you're really into the stories and I'll try not to let you down. More is on the way! 🙏
