So our 25th anniversary is coming up. Wife has started promoting the idea of renewing our vows. I immediately tossed our the idea of the world's largest nude group wedding ceremony in Jamaica, which she poohooed. So I said I would ask the EA members for ideas and she laughed. Give me some ideas, please. Thanks..

I almost hesitate to reveal myself as a romantic. Nonetheless, go with the silver theme. Romance means a wedding cake, you in a suit or tux, her is a very nice dress. Don't surprise her with a new ring - go to the jewelry store and buy it with her (it just works better that way). Remember you will order the flowers together. Then go back and order a nice corsage that matches the flowers - have the corsage delivered to your home the day before the ceremony. Get help writing your vows from a good friend of the family, write them way ahead of time so they are sweet, only a bit funny, and make every guest cry. Don't sit on your wallet, but don't spend yourself broke. A good hotel with a nice room that serves a good dinner is fine. The bar should be a cash bar because the bar bill will be equal to the entire party if you don't - plus, your guests will drink less if they are buying. If you have out-of-town guests, you can negotiate the banquet room for free if your guest stays a certain number of room nights. It doesn't sound romantic - but, letting her pick out the table cloths, the centerpieces (flowers are best but, the most expensive), the DJ makes her feel special and lets her know you want this to be her day. Oh, and better with no bestman and no bridesmaids (just makes too much drama).

You know my friends too well.

Thanks - and wife does think you are a hopeless romantic.
