I’ve run across a mail order pharmacy that seems to be marketing to kids with Japanese anime characters. Their site has anime characters scattered throughout. Their packaging has phrases like, “Keep out of reach of parents” and a little girl looking character saying “Don’t look at my giant Girldick.” The company’s name translates from the Japanese as “Little Boy Pharmacy.”

The company seems to sell nothing other than chemical castration drugs, testosterone, and various forms of estradiol.

I’m contemplating an article about the intersection of anime, Covid isolation, and transgender ideas in kids. I just don’t know the anime well enough. Do any of you have ideas about which anime I ought to watch? Any themes that you've seen in anime that I might want to explore?

It can be correct: such anime is intended only for Japanese?

I've been an anime fan for years. Some businesses for lack of a better term use anime style drawings and characters as advertisements. I'm guessing that's what you found. I personally have never run across any anime having any such themes or ideas in it. There have been cross dressings done, but it was always purely for comedy. Granted Japan does have some different ideas about things than we do, So who knows?

Well I watch a lot of anime as well, its not just for kids.

Stuff about drugs etc i have never seen that.

I like some anime, watched Starblazers, Big O, Beastars, I tend to enjoy either Giant Robots or Anthropomorphic anime. Beastars is an example, as is Zootopia. in Anime there is also other names, I will have to see if Howl's moving castle is furry or not.

I believe what Jesus is getting at here is: Do any of you who are fans of Anime find that the genre seems to be pushing the transgender ideology, perhaps at children? And if so, is using Anime characters a marketing ploy for these 'iffy' drug companies?

I absolutely agree with dear professor, though I am not a fan of the Japanese animes. I repeatedly faced messages about almost hypnotizing impact of this product on the audience. But as I am a transgender, personally it does not seem to me the tragic phenomenon. Especially I am an admirer of some futuristic forecasts connected with with an overpopulation problem.

I did not see such a thing, though possibly the exception is Ranma1/2. gender changes if water cold or hot is thrown on character. could be. have not seen this idea repeated anywhere else, which would backrest the idea of pushing transgender.

Japanese culture has long understood that gender is performance. Since 1629, all performers in the traditional Kabuki drama, whether playing male or female parts, have been male. The popular Takarazuka Review, since its beginning in 1914, has only females playing all roles, whether male or female. Shape-shifting between species is also a traditional part of Japanese culture, with various animals, especially the fox, able to transform into human or other forms.

These two types of transformation can merge in Japanese anime. For example, in Naruto, about an 11-12 year old boy ninja warrior who has a nine-tailed fox trapped inside him, the boy develops the power to transform into a girl. He uses this power to overcome an enemy in season 1, episode 2 by getting him sexually aroused, and then defeating him while he's distracted. In Japanese folklore, nine-tailed foxes frequently transform into beautiful women in order to seduce men. (My first published paper was about trickster foxes in Japan.) In addition, Naruto also attempts to teach the transformation to his adoring younger friend, Konohamaru (age 8-9), who doesn’t house a fox, but the boy isn't very good at it and transforms into a homely woman.

But, what I’m most interested in is the boys masking as female in a number of different anime. Unless the viewer knows better, they are perceived as girls. In the very popular Sailor Moon, for example, the character Fisheye is male, but has a cute face and bright blue eyes. He has long and flowing hair and wears feminine clothes. In the anime Tamako Market, the character Kaoru Hanase has very stylish long blonde hair that reaches down to his waist. He wears a cute pink apron with flower print. Both of these characters are described as “male,” but both are drawn as archetypic “female.”

I have never seen 'pushing', but exploring the theme was done in at least a few anime titles. Be it cross-dressing or sex/body change.

Technically, you can google 'futanari' with 'safe search' turned off, but that would be hentai, mostly. (Like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_Black#Anime for example).
