New Journalistic Article

Post by JesusA (imported) »

A new article about castration and cutters was published yesterday in The Daily Beast. While far from perfect, it is the best journalistic article I’ve yet seen on the subject. It’s quite long, so I’m only posting a link here. (You can reward the author for his sensitive writing by going to the site and reading it there.)

I’ve included one paragraph from the article below to give some idea of its tone. Comments about the article would be greatly welcomed here. I’m certain that Mark Hay, the author of the article, will read them. Feedback is important.

Inside the World of Backstreet Castrators, Cutters and Eunuch-Makers

No one has, to The Daily Beast’s knowledge, seriously studied cutters, or people’s willingness to seek them out and cover for them despite mishaps and horror stories. However, according to several experts on gender diversity and surgeries, and to a handful of people who have pursued the kind of services cutters offer, whom The Daily Beast consulted for this article, cutters’ operations do not reflect some kind of collective pathology. Nor do they merit tabloid melodrama or major legal crackdowns. Instead, they are largely the result of society’s failure to fully acknowledge, truly respect, and adequately serve deeply marginalized gender identities.

I agree, Is is one the better articles that doesn't make voluntary eunuchs out as freaks.

It was worth the longer read.

A miles significantly better effort than previous attempts. Far from perfect, better than what we normally get.

Now that the guy has built trust, perhaps he'll be able to write a follow-up at some point and get rid of the one person I saw in it that is a bit off their rocker. The others, were more balanced (the fellow who went to New York, and the Canadian). Sadly, the one I find as a legitimate but poor representation is the one who was most featured in the article. 🤷

Around these parts, I believe I know who all of them are, despite the names being changed for the article. Two were around here quite often years ago, the last has been in and out more recently. Should they see this, it's up to them to identify themselves, so please don't ask me to.

I m really glad to see that the author touched on castration and penis removals as being a very sexual act for many healthy men seeking these voluntary surgeries. And even in some medically necessary surgeries, there are certainly men desiring a sexual act in the surgery itself. Drs often are very uncomfortable talking about and handling other men s sex organs. They do their work very impersonally and clinical and detached ways. If a man is willingly giving up his sex organs, his fertility, virility, sex drive, masculinization of his body, his sex life to an extent, and a lot of his manhood, he has a right to have that immense sacrifice fully appreciated, acknowledged, and carried out as the very male and very sexual act that it obviously is for many men.

Dr s can hardly do that. Especially with other drs so eager to back bite each other and their nurses and techs eager to complain too ! It is not condusive to men s last orgasms and ejaculations as men. And it is throwing ice water on this vital sexual aspect of this life changing act for many men. Can you imagine the criticisms and reports of any drs helping men to fully enjoy and highly sexualize these surgeries to understandably really relish and optimally enjoy their last orgasms and ejaculations in the last minutes before the surgery ? Or sexualizing these procedures with assisting staff there and potentially objecting to the sexual acts and atmosphere ? For many men this is not merely a clinical procedure like most medical care. For many men this is maybe the most intense and highly sexual event in their lives !

I m sure this aspect of sexualizing the loss of male sex organs and the loss of male sexual enjoyment and abilities is very confusing for anyone not feeling these urges within themselves. And nearly impossible to explain the obvious contradictions in destroying sexual organs as a sexual act. Hardly what the reading public seeks or can hope to understand. But undeniably the cutters fill that highly sexual role that hardly any drs and medical staff can provide. Especially in a highly emotionally charged and sexual interaction in the relationship between a man to man, or man to woman, castrator and eunuch sexual way. This is one reason that men seek out cutters when pay for care and safely trained drs are available. A big reason.

I understand why this aspect of male sex organ modifications was only touched on in this article. It is a tough topic to get past editors and can be accused of becoming porn to go into the sexual aspects of this. And the target audience is unlikely to understand or want those details in more depth than this author touched on.

But in terms of discussing why men seek out cutters, the sexual act aspects are a huge part of men s motivations and do matter in why men avoid drs. In favor of illegal cutters. Or at least to try to avoid non sexual clinical drs.

Maybe a men s magazine could delve into these sexual aspects more appropriately than most media. Here is another article this author could write for men s consumption.

I m really glad to see this author is really trying to understand this little known subject and do justice to many men who find this subject life changing. Thanks for a fine article.

Hopefully this author can now write and sell a men s only, and very adult rated sexual considerations version of this subject to a different kind of ale targeted publication. To help other men understand why any fellow men voluntarily seek out and do this to themselves. I understand that this author s intent and aim was a far more broad based and medical type of discussion. And written for a much broader and co ed audience than if he was only writing this for the men on this site.

At the risk of commenting way too much on this article, here are a few more reasons why normal and well adjusted men might seek the help of an illegal cutter instead of the safe medical treatment provided by drs.

When a completely normal and well adjusted man who enjoys being male and loves his male sex organs and loves having sex starts thinking about getting himself voluntarily castrated, it usually is not a problem with his body image or sexual self identity. Most often his motivation falls into the following catagories.

1. Contraception.

He knows he can easily, safely, and cheaply get himself a vasectomy with no hassles. But some men know of men who did have vasectomies and then they developed chronic testis pain or started having immune system problems from their own immune systems reacting to the daily sperm production being trapped in the testicles or pressure of trapped sperm causing blow outs leaking the sperm into the scrotum. They sometimes choose a fully castration to avoid these problems. Or decide to go out with a bang and choose castration over vasectomies when they retire their baby makers.

2. Pain

Some men with chronic pain in their testis will have trouble getting drs to just cut off the ailing testicle. Drs often want to try different methods to save both testis and stop the pain. When men get tired of no relief from the pain, they will seek out cutters to cut it off to end the chronic pain.

3. Sex drive fatigue

Some men just get tired of having raging high sex drives since puberty and seek a simple and easy way to remedy the constant desire to have endless sex. Male sex drives can be so high that it makes life difficult. And as men age, some require and desire ever higher levels of excitement and wilder and novel new sex acts to attain that lost level of sexual pleasure and response they had as teens and younger men. Castration offers these men a solution to these troubling desires. They know about drugs and chemicals that can decrease male sex drive and desires. But some men ask to be castrated as the fast and simple way to avoid a lifetime of costly drugs, drs appointments, prescriptions, and figuring out the right doses for their needs. They say, just cut me to a steer, and skip all of that to get relief.

4. Cheating desires

Many high sex drive men and men who have intense desires for new sex partners, continuing impregnation, or ever increasing sexual stimulation also start getting into major trouble with wives or gay lovers. They feel tempted to cheat on their spouse or lover to meet unsatisfied desires. This risks divorce, alienation of their children, extended family, spouse or partner, unwanted pregnancies and child support payments with women other than their spouses, and the real risks of STD and AIDS transmission to themselves and their partners or spouses. Some men see castration as a final solution to these problems and cravings. But few medical drs would agree to perform a voluntary castration for these reasons. Medical drs usually refer men to psychological services to deal with these problems or complicated and expensive medications that men would need to take for a lifetime. Many men will endure extreme risks and sacrifices to protect their partners, kids, and extended family from these problems.

5. Illegal sexual desires.

If a man asks to be castrated but he refuses to even discuss why he wants or needs it, you start to think that maybe he has strong desires to act out some kind of illegal sex acts that would ruin his own life and other s lives. Too ashamed and embarassed to admit to these desires, and fearing being reported to authorities for their, as yet, unacted upon desires, or past illegal acts, men will seek cutters to end their desires and destroy their physical erection abilities to end these risks. Men who have desires for underaged sex partners, forced rapes, or other illegal acts would be turned in to law enforcement by medical drs and licensed counselors under the duty to report laws. Men know this. They don t want to be investigated, documented, labeled, and classified as sexual predators or perverts, or criminals for the rest of their lives. Especially when they have not even commited any crimes and only sought help to prevent such crimes. Cutters offer these men a fast, easy, confidential, undocumented, no questions asked, and often free castration to lower or remove these kinds of desires and cravings.

Medical drs most often would not agree to do castrations in the above situations. Or they would first try a long process of other medicines, counseling, and expensive care that many men want to avoid.

Just hoping this information helps other people understand why some men seek voluntary castration or penis removal and why they turn to illegal and very risky illegal cutters to get gelded.

This article is exactly how they treated "sex change" operations back in the 60's. Back then, people went to Sweden and other countries to get them. It was considered VERY strange and people made jokes about the patients. They didn't become "mainstream" until the late 90's. Maybe that is what is happening with voluntary Orchiectomies.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Let's hope we are in that cycle.
