New Book

There is a new book just published:
Shaun Tougher, The Roman Castrati: Eunuchs in the Roman Empire (Bloomsbury Academic, Nov 2020) ISBN 9781847251688
It is unlikely to set the world alight (even here!), but I expect there will be mild interest. Would people be interested in my posting a review of the book (when I've finished reading it!) If so, is this the correct forum?

Doug,
Let me ask. I think it would be best in the Non Fiction section. That Forum is moderated. However, this forum is very much a catch-all.
A review of the book with small quotes would be great.

Go ahead and do a review of the book -- I assume you have a copy. Post it to the non-fiction section. If it needs to be moved from there, that will be taken care of.

The Non-Fiction Board is the place for book reviews and article summaries. I've ordered my own copy of Shaun Tougher's new book after seeing your post. He does excellent work and I've got most of his previous writing on eunuchs. He and I were on a panel at an academic conference in Atlanta some years ago. He's a fascinating person, as well as a great scholar who teaches an entire university course on eunuchs and castrati.

OK, I'll start posting the review there in instalments, which can be consolidated later if necessary. I would recommend waiting for the paperback (if there is to be one) as the hardback and e-book prices are high, and the hardback is actually a digital print.

Thanks for sharing- The more literature about our community we can share, the more awareness and understanding we can facilitate.

Please remember that the Non-Fiction board is moderated, so any post you make there won't show up until an Admin sees it.

I wonder how many of his students get a fun new fetish as a lifetime bonus from taking his class ?

We will just have to wait and see. It is a bit delicious to think about. Though if memberships here begin to rise. Well, We already have the explaination.
