When I first heard about this, I didn't believe it was true. But, it is.
When parents sign the consent form for infant circumcision, the form contains a line about "donating the tissue". Mostly, it's skin graft companies or pharmaceutical companies that need skin cells. One human foreskin can be grown into a football field size of skin grafts. When developing a new drug, pharmaceutical companies first need to test the medication to see if it kills healthy human cells and foreskins are about the only human tissue removed that is perfectly healthy.
Face cream companies barely qualify as a pharmaceutical. Yet, they can also benefit from the "donated" foreskin.
It is a violation of US law to sell any human body part. So, the hospital can only charge a preparation fee for the foreskin. Most hospitals bill a really high number for an infant circumcision and then the insurance knocks that number down to about $500.00 Then, the hospital charges between $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 for the preparation fee to ship the foreskin to the company the wants the donation and that includes companies that make face cream.
