COVID time is here

Near as we can figure things out, I have been positive for COVID-19 since this past Wednesday (21st) or Thursday. Tracking the past several days, and where I have been (with or without a mask, etc.), I have potentially exposed 3-4 friends, and unknown numbers of the public at large, despite the fact that I always wear a mask. Near as we can figure things I should no longer be contagious after this next Wednesday or Saturday. I've made a few phone calls and advised others of what is going on. Hay everyone, wear a mask, get tested if you can. and take care.

Not sure why, but when I saw the title, I thought it was a joke about daylight savings time ending this Sunday. So many people have been saying things on Facebook about wanting to set their clocks forward to 2021 when this is finally over.
I hope you had the mild version of the virus and didn't spread to anyone important.

My understanding is the mask protects others from you. Others wearing a mask protects you from them.

Hey,
Hope you are feeling better soon.

wishing everyone caught up in this little outbreak a fast and uneventful recovery.
I would not get hung up on the possibility of those you may have infected,
It's more the nature of this thing, as there are thousands like you around the world who have followed procedures but now have it.

So what were your symptoms? Are you still OK?
According to the list, I've experienced all 2,385,408 symptoms (which are also indicative of every other disease known to Man) except for the bruised toes. Although I did have some random, inexplicable bruising elsewhere. Actually, I stopped reading the symptoms page when I got down to around #17 or so. It was like, "Well, I'm fucked. Time for some harsh home remedies."
About a month ago, I had about 36 hours where every breath was extremely painful. Cured it with 4 packs of cigarettes in 24 hours and a large bottle of red wine. Then I hit the Canadian Communion Whisky. Needless to say, it was a rough few days. But it makes a good mix with organic mint tea with raw honey and lemon, too. There's been some lingering fatigue, but that's nothing that a hard dose of stimulants can't fix. Combine that with some hard-core "murder chili" and you'll be fine.
Word of warning, though: DO NOT grind the Sudafed 12 hour tablet into powder and snort it. It's NOT a good idea.
Never have gotten a test, either, as it's exactly backwards. I expect to be paid for it, not vice-versa.
I hope you turn out to be asymptomatic, or as close as one can be.

I like Paolo's treatment. When you are high in the Andes, medical care amounts to a really, really strong cane whiskey they brew up. Works surprisingly well. But if you look around you do not see a lot of old men.
My work involves a lot of analyses. For quality control, we include a blank to check for contamination from the previous batch (it happens) and every 20th sample is a standard that you know the value. Here is what you find. Instrument callibration gets off or is mis-done. Anything huiman beings (including me) touch, they can fuck up. Numbering goes awry. Contamination can carry from one sample to another. So on.
I very rarely in the press have seen reference to false negatives and false positives, but I am sure it happens. My understanding (could be wrong) is that there is also a window where the nasal test has a shot at finding the virus. Sort of transient residence time between the nose and the lungs.
That said, I don't think the test is worthless. I am sure it is useful in the sense of a mass of data telling you if things are getting better or worse. I just did it before traveling. It was kind of a calculated gamble. I wanted something in print and thankfully I came back negative. If I had come back positive, I would have immediately gone for a re-test.

Thanks Kristoff for sharing- I hope you have a speedy recovery. I’m cautiously hopeful we can get back to normal by the time MoM (Meeting of Members) 2021 happens.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I hope that you get through this quickly and easily. Some folk are very fortunate to have a light case. I hope that you continue to be one.
