So I have Windows 7 on one laptop. I have read that Microsoft has stopped supporting it. Occasionally like last night when I turn it off, I go thru the installing updates drill. Why if they have stopped supporting am I still doing updates?

Many of the application support packages and programming run-time applications built upon Windows 7, such as Microsoft's Visual C++, continue to be supported because they are also used in Windows 8 and 10.

Thank you. I won't bother making an aluminum foil protector helmet for my laptop.

Here is the mantra from Microsoft:

Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. If you are still using Windows 7, your PC may become more vulnerable to security risks.

So, no security and performance update. I took the opportunity to upgrade my eight-year-old PC with Win10, more RAM. and replaced the HD with a SSD (solid state drive). Now it really hums.
