New eunuch

Last week I had a unilateral scrotal orchidectomy under general anaesthetic. This surgery was much less painful than the unilateral inguinal orchidectomy I had five years ago for testicular cancer. I have had very little pain or bleeding, and did not need any pain relief after the first day. No sign of complications so far. Both of my surgeries were in the New Zealand public health system. All the staff were excellent and looked after me with great compassion. I had to wait for just over 15 months for my final surgery, 11 of which were taken by waiting for a psychiatric assessment, also through the public system. Although I initially approached my urologist as a private patient, the only local private surgical hospital is Catholic and forbids gender affirming surgeries. There is also an acute shortage of private psychiatrists. And then we had coronavirus, but New Zealand has now resumed elective surgery and I was ready for surgery at short notice.
It took me over 20 years, but my surgical transition is complete and I am now a happy eunuch. I will be trying the no-T lifestyle, fending off osteoporosis and metabolic problems with vitamin D and weight-bearing exercise.
Thanks to everyone here for your support over the years. I first started lurking in the late 1990s, shortly after the Archive was founded. I honour the memory of Bboy, and the other members who have passed on, may they rest in peace.
