Oral has been said to be hard on the liver. Topicals work, if you can handle not being able to get wet or sweaty for a few hours after they are applied. I've only used topicals and injections. I prefer injections, mostly because during hot weather, I'll sweat and the topicals will wash off into my clothes. That, and I only have to worry about it once every couple of weeks when I take the injections.

I'm not a eunuch (and don't want to be one) but, about 20 years ago I was having all the symptoms of low T. My doctor tested my testosterone in my blood and it wasn't low enough to treat without symptoms. But, with symptoms, he put me on Androgel.
At the time there was no generic for Androgel and it was beyond expensive to pay for it out of pocket. After an appeal, I got my insurance company to pay for it and the price of my co-pay per month was still a bit higher than injections.
Today, there are generic versions of Androgel and the cost with a GoodRx coupon is $30 a month in my area. The instructions say to not swim, shower, nor sweat for 5 hours after putting it on. The instructions also say to put it on in the morning before 10 am.
At the time, I was living in the desert and it was common for us to have temperatures of between 100 and 125 degrees in the summer. So, not sweating was a big problem. The doctor told me to shower in the evening, let it dry, and then go to bed. The before 10 am thing is because the natural cycle of the body has testosterone the highest in the morning and they wanted to mimic that cycle. But, putting it on in the evening was no problem for me. Some say they have trouble getting to sleep if they put it on at night. I was already taking medication well known to cause insomnia. So, using Androgel at night was noticeable to me.
YMMV

Thank you for your testimonials Losethem and TopManFL, it seems that the least painful is the gel even if there are strict conditions to use it, the oral one having effects on the liver, and I really do not like them IM is even phobic.
I hope that they will find methods of administration a little more advanced than these IM of another century.
I hope that the gel can be prescribed in the case of castration where the level of T must be the most modified. As far as I am concerned, I would not even take it, I am not looking for a substitute for my testicles, but a reduction of my libido. I might be obliged to take it to avoid the effects of feminization and other problems like osteoporosis etc.
Do you know eunuchs who don't use anything and who have no side effects?

Most folks have moved away from IM jabs here in the UK and do subcutaneous injections into belly fat instead. There is not much difference between either method so far as absorption rate goes. You can get by with using a 27G 1/2" needle and providing you use a fresh needle (Not using the same needle to draw the test out the vial with) you won't feel it go in.

The other alternative is to have testosterone pellets implanted under the skin. It is done with local anesthesia and they last a few months. Google testosterone implants for more info. I do IM self-injections and have gotten pretty good at it, so there is little to no pain at all if you do it right. I'm sure you could learn if I did.

Are you talking about subcutaneous injection like diabetics do for insulin?
That I would be able to do, the needles are very fine and only fit about 2cm
Do you have a brand of testosterone in this presentation?

I have seen testosterone implants, this shows that the methods of administration are constantly changing, and that there are some that we do not know or do not know well.
When it comes to pain, JockItch, it's not just the pain that's causing me trouble, it's that for me IM is a phobia, and it's hard to fight a phobia when at the same time you're trying to settle a hormonal problem.
I would personally be more in favor of the testosterone implants that you told me about.
Then there are other problems, I live in France and I will be operated on in Belgium. France judges surgical castration as a barbaric practice, as do many European countries.
Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey are the rare countries where it remains possible, although the process is long and tedious, not to mention the coronavirus which does not arrange appointments or surgical procedures.
Then since castration is prohibited in France, I don't know which treatments are available which seem to vary from one country to another. Castration due to illness is practiced in France so there must be treatments, which, I would discover in a while, but I am happy to have learned a lot from your coments, This will allow me to speak with my urologist while knowing the treatments that exist.

Yes you can do subcutaneous injections with insulin needle (prescribed by Dr.) but you have to do small amounts every day because the needles are so small and the testosterone is in a thick oil. So you end up doing more injections, with smaller amounts vs. larger injections less frequently with IM injections and bigger needles.
