As a boy I loved my dad. But it was obvious he was dealing with issues and so I never felt really safe

around him.

He could be really wonderful with camping trip, visits to Yosemite reading and other activities. He could be a bit odd pressurering me to get naked at nude beachs.

I'm sure he was suffering from PTSD from the war and perhaps from his childhood. I always wanted to be closer to him.

I did have an irrational fear that he might have me "operated on". I try to capture some of those feelings in my father son stories but I always fall short.

Perhaps it's that reality is too complicated to capture with words alone. But I enjoy trying to express my emotions. The interesting thing is some people respond to my attempts.

I guess I'll always be haunted by those boyhood fears of parental nullification. I suppose some would say I'm rather screwed up.

Some people s theory is that ritual circumcision was thought up to replace father s human sacrifice of sons to gods. Blood letting without fatality. But a major sacrifice made by the son, of an important sexual organ that is prized by many males.

According to Freud, ritual circumcision is a symbolic castration. It porpuse is warning the son to don't screw the mother. And i really felt it like an emasculation back in the time, is why now i really love Atreyu's stories

When I was 10 all the boys in my cabin at summer camp were circumcised except for one Mexican kid. The rest of us couldn't figure out what was "wrong" with him.

Two years later at age 12 an older boy (about 14) explained to me that I'd been circumcised and that this was done to keep me from "jacking off".

When I was 13 I had started to develop down there and my mom took me in for my annual physical. The doctor took a particular interest in my genitals. I was terrified that he might have some way of determining that I had recently jacked off. I was afraid that if he knew he might tell my parents and also that he might do something to me to make me stop.

I'd had sex education but those concerns of mine didn't come up in class and I was afraid to ask. I thought that just asking about it could get me labeled as a naughty boy and who knew what happens to naughty boys.

Sex ed classes should explain that boys don't need to be afraid of castration even if they do jack off.

I can t remember any sex ed classes dealing with castration more than very briefly how it affects the physical body. It was completely ignored. Even though with longer lifespans, more men will end up castrated by prostate cancer treatments or simply by natural old age atrophy of testicles.

Most males know almost nothing about castration. And that is true of males at all ages of life.

It is still an off limits taboo subject for most people.

Yes, you re right. I read a study that the cultures where male circumcision is most often done, are cultures where sons live in close contact with their mothers at older ages. Maybe it is a father s or male elder s warning of castrating if any sons get into having sex with their mothers or sisters ?

Too many fathers leave all of the sex education to their sons friends. They should man up and teach their sons all about sex and contraception. They are not doing their jobs as men or fathers ! It cheats their sons.

As far as my 6th grade sex education class is concerned I wish the teacher had made just four points about castration.

1. Although it was common place at one time human castration and nullification are almost never practiced today. One of the rare exceptions is medical nessesity and that's usually for older males and not boys.

2. Some boys feel anxious about their own castration. The have nothing to fear. You'll never be castrated as punishment. No one will force the operation on you.

3. Some boys my find it stimulating but you should not engage in any games that could injury your genitals. Never hold a knife to your penis. Don't place rubber bands on your testis. Boys have been hurt by doing so

4. Whether a person becomes a Eunuch for medical reasons or as a personal choice he is in no way inferror to an intact male.

There's more I want to add to the last post but I can't seem to find any way to edit it. Anyway the above information would have made my life easier as a boy.
