My testosterone came back, oh no!

Around this time last spring I started on Androcur after trying the herbal method. After forcing myself through the first month of Androcur all of my sex drive problems went away, it was amazing. I had the usual side effects, some fatigue, hot flashes, some cold sweats, etc, but they were all worth the trouble. I was on it for six months and I got the bright idea not to reorder and to ween off to see what would happen. I felt a little better after the medication was out of my system and my sex drive and function stayed at zero which was great. I noticed that the hot flashes went away after the Christmas holiday which meant that my T was likely returning but I did't miss the hot flashes so I didn't think it was going to be a problem. Towards the end of January I had a physical and I asked my primary care doctor to test my testosterone level. I came back a week later at the end of January and it was 180 and he offered me a T injection which I obviously turned down without a second thought. I had a little function starting to return but overall my sex drive was very low and no morning wood problems or any erections to speak of unless I really tried hard for testing purposes. Fast forward to about a month ago which is when I really started to notice that it was all coming back again. And I'm now I'm at the end of April in the middle of the pandemic and my sex drive is at a really miserable level. The only permanent benefit that I can see is a smaller penis. I'm 4" inches fully hard now, as opposed to 5.25".

If I would have known that it would be this bad I would have stayed on it at 25 mg per day instead of 50 mg. This was definitely a huge mistake so now I have to wait until this lock down ends to get myself back to normal. I'm not sure what to do at the moment. I'm going to try dosing up with chasteberry extract 5:1 and stuff it into capsules. But like anything hormonal it takes forever.

Anyway, that the scoop on me.

Sounds like you really liked being a temp Eunuch. Why not buy some Everclear190 proof grain alcohol and inject your nuts to kill them and do away with the drugs. There are a lot of things worse than not having nuts. I got rid of mine in Jan 2019, and have never been happier in my life. I couldn't find a cutter for a long time and went with the alcohol injections. They did a great job and shrunk my nuts a goodly bit. 5 months I located a cutter and made me the happiest guy alive when both of my nuts were laying on the bed beside me. Go for it, you'll never regret it.

Is the place you sourced your chemical castration medications shut down? If not, why not order more and start up again, then when things lift, find a surgeon to make this solution permanent?

I've been very hesitant about going that route. I actually have everclear on hand because I could't find rubbing alcohol in the stores. And I've got some large gauge veterinary syringes that I bought for acrylic plastic fabrication. I had thought about doing it before but I figured that the medication route would solve the problem but I didn't do it long enough. What was your first injection like? How much did you inject, etc, and how long did it take to get some relief from it?

I checked and they are shipping but they are claiming a 3-6 week wait. The idea of that and another first month break in period with the drug has me a bit stressed out. I'm starting chastberry extract capsules this coming week. I still have to figure out a long term plan. Surgery is definitely the way to go. If I could do it right now I would.

I can imagine this is stressful for you. I've not experienced this myself as I've always been a eunuch with replacement hormones.

At this point all I can offer is take a deep breath, and if you have to masturbate for a while until you can get the drugs in, do it. I know that's not ideal, but if popping your cork a couple times a day, in private, helps you with your wife, it could be tolerable until you get back on your medications.

You also have a great support group here. Think of us as Test-anon... Kind of like Al-anon, but for testosterone/testicles. There are a great many people here who are willing to lend an ear, including myself. You'll get past this. Just hang on, and things will change for the better.

Hey Nathan,

I would suggest another blood test and this time tell your doctor what you did.

Listen, doctors have to pull Barbie Dolls out of guy's assholes who claimed have sat on it by accident when they were naked.

I do not mean to diminish your embarrassment or fear of telling the doctor what you have done. Just because the doctor isn't embarrassed, doesn't mean you won't be embarrassed or worried about judgment from the doctor.

I see the doctor frequently for a couple of things that happened including a car accident and cancer. So, I've learned to do this. I take about five things I want to talk about and write them on an 8.5x11" piece of paper. I use a sharpie.

When I get to the doctor's office, I put the paper on the exam table and sit in a chair, not on the exam table. When the nurse asks why I'm there, I show the nurse the paper. They seriously appreciate it.

Each reason is one sentence. I don't bring long printouts of pages from Dr. Google. Just a paper with about five one-sentence reasons for being there.

The doctor will appreciate the paper as well. He can address each point. More importantly, he can't interrupt your written words. Studies show that a patient speaks for about 5 to 15 seconds before getting interrupted by their doctor. After all, you came there for the doctor's advice - not the other way around.

So, you paper might look like this:

1. Current Testosterone Level?

2. Previous trial of Androcur made my life better with no libido

3. I stopped Androcur and my libido came back

4. Worried about hot flashes, bone loss, depression on just Androcur

5. Can you prescribe a combination of Androcur to lose my libido and ways to stop the bad side effects?

See? Five lines. Tells the whole story and the doctor isn't in the dark at all. Best of all, you didn't have to speak a word to tell the doctor what was going on.

Of course, your five lines might be very different and the doctor might have questions like, "why do you want to lose your libido". But, the basics will be there. Even if the doctor sends you to a specialist, you've started a path where you'll be monitored and get what you want.

This is a very good idea. I should have been doing this for all the years I'd been seeking support from GP's and others.

Yes this is the way to go. If you want clear concise advice from them, you have to give them clear and concise information.

Brilliant. I might just try that after the virus crisis. My questions for my endo would be:

(1) I took Androcur for 4 years and, now, 10 years later, I now have low libido and low testosterone permanently.

(2) I like my current state of sexuality, so I do not wish to increase testosterone to normal levels.

(3) But do not want my osteopenia to worsen.

(4) Can you prescribe a course of medications to keep my body and bones healthy?
