I've been off TRT for several years due to the side effect (raised hematocrit, prostate enlargement, etc) and have been considering low dose estrogen as well to stave off the side effects of castrate level testosterone (brain fog, memory loss, energy, etc.). I have read some info about it, primarily from Dr. Richard Wassersug, and it appears the libido can be affected. Wassersug has been on ADT for a long time and takes estrogen. There is a video where he talks about sex after castration and on estrogen. Google his name and read some of his info. Do be advised you will develop gynocomastia but if you don't mind having boobs (I already do so it's no big deal for me) then it might be a viable alternative to TRT.

I stayed away from Testosterone HRT for several years after my Orchiectomy. All I finally concluded was that not only was I really tired all the time but gaining weight and felt like sh*t most of the time but the night sweats were a bitch. While they got a bit better the longer the time from my surgery, they never went away. So I finally broke down and got some low dose T going on. That cured the night sweats, made me feel a bunch better, but also brought my libido back to a certain extent. I wanted that to go away as that was the biggest reason I got the Orchi in the first place.
So after doing a bunch of research, I found multiple suggestions from Surgeons familiar with TG issues, who said having no sex hormones was not a good idea. I was a bit reluctant as I'd gotten some Gynecomastia when I was on the generic Androcur for about a year before the Orchiectomy procedure.
I finally decided that i needed to look at becoming a nullo and started investigating that option with the idea of going on low dose E instead of the low dose T I'd been using.
I got the surgery done, but as a precondition they made me stop taking the low dose E, by the time the surgery came around I was really noticing the change; tired all the time, night sweats were back, no ambition but there were no libido issues either.
I stayed off the low E for several months after the surgery and then started again, gradually about six weeks ago. It's been working, I feel so much better it's unreal, contacted my PCP and he seems agreeable to helping. He's been attending numerous conferences on LGBTQ issues as well as gender non-conforming which is a relatively new category
Bottom line? It just proves everything my research has shown is that you need sex hormones. The type be it T or E, is an individual thing and needs monitoring.

zeebster I have been taking 1 mg of Estrofem every 4 days since my orchiectomy 16 years ago and it has worked like a charm. Keeps away the hot flashes and has no side effects which can occur at higher doses. I had to experience thru trial and error at the beginning. Too low of a dose didn't get rid of the hot flashes and too high of a dose caused vision problems. So 1 mg every 4 days has been the perfect happy medium for me. You just have to experiment for a while to achieve the best possible dosage and duration.

It is interesting how we become dependant on sex hormones. Children somehow can do without and they don't complain about tiredness, low energy, brain fog, nightsweats etc. I wonder why is that?

I've been on 4 mg E for about two years at this point and would say that my libido is very low but not entirely gone. I've tried going with a lower dose but I found that the 4 mg feels right - I have energy, mental alertness, and less depression than with lower doses.

I'm on estradiol patches, two of the 0.1mg/day dose. My libido is non-existent, sex is as interesting as mowing the lawn. No erections. No desire for anything sexual whatsoever, in any way. And I'm very pleased, since that's been my goal. My target state is asexual eunuch with good energy, mood, memory, and so on. I'm loving it.

That's kind of where I'm at right now. Started with 2mg of Estrofem and while I felt great, it didn't take long for the gynecomastia to start showing up. So I dropped to the 1mg size and have since been working my way to longer times between doses.
Don't forget that taking E is helpful in preventing Osteoporosis, men can get that too.
