you can do it now that you have five active posts on the boards -- the required minimum. Click on private messages on the menu bar, self explanatory from there.

I still can't use this function, can anyone explain why that might be?

Both you and the person you are attempting to message must have five active posts.

I'm glad I found this post. I was wondering about the PM function here
