TRT Chemistry questions

I appreciate input folks, but I have done some research, if you have good factual information please post.

I read that 90% of free T is converted to Estradiol, 10% to DHT.

FIrst question, is DHT soley responsible for Libido? I want to get RID of my libido 100% but maintain my energy/bone density. If so this would be the ONLY way I will stay on TRT.

I began taking pumpkin seed oil capsules as they are supposed to block the 5α-reductase enzyme that converts the free-T to DHT. It seems to help but it's not 100%.

Who has experience on TRT *and* propecia or another DHT blocker?

The other reason for quitting TRT is that my anxiety goes through the roof, head gets cloudy, TRT is not meant for me.

I think my body has always believed it was female, always enjoyed life when I was on Estradiol previously, but TRT is not jiving with my brain very well.

You could have a read at this rather wordy article.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4837307/

Basically what is saying is if you substitute testosterone for nandrolone you will drastically reduce DHT.

For this reason it is a popular steroid for female athletes.

You will get erectile dysfunction using this but the report shows it does help with joint pain issues.

I have tried this and if my doc offered this as an alternative I would take it as I feel better when I'm

on it. I an really not bothered about my dick not working .

Yes I sufferd with this whenever I stop also.

I put it down to the fact that you are heading into new territory and your subconscious knows it.

You will have good and bad days with this and you find if you get really involved in a task this will go away.

I'm on Finasteride, which blocks 5 alfa reductase to reduce DHT. I was prescribed this by my urologist to shrink my enlarged prostate. I took the full 5mg daily dose for 6 weeks back in Oct/Nov '19, but quit as I was losing libido and becoming impotent which made fucking my girlfriend difficult/impossible. Otherwise, I was feeling calmer and was getting used to the mild hot flushes. However, my urinary symptoms were coming back towards the end of Dec, and on Jan 1 I went back on Finasteride, but am only taking 1/2 dose, ie. 2.5mg daily. My urinary symptoms are getting better and although I have some mild hot flushes again, I'm still getting erections. I've only gone 2.5 weeks on this dose and of course my libido and potency might be failing again. I'll let you know.

How long does it take for your libido to stop after quitting HRT I've been off for 11 days now and am wondering how quickly I'll stop feeling the effects of testosterone. I'm having prostate surgery the 30th and have precancerous cells in my prostate and am completely nonfunctional sexually but still have a strong need for sex and its driving me crazy.

FYI- There are 3 pathways for DHT conversion and finasteride blocks one. Dutusteride blocks 2 and is about twice as effective as finasteride.

That sounds like EXACTLY what I want. Strange that I *want* ED but I do, better things in life to do now :)

This is good to know. I will be stopping my HRT March 1.

My goal is to get rid of this sub surface libido that keeps me on the sexual edge.

Once I stop I can then be aware that it might not be right away that I will achieve the peace of calm I seek.
