My Journey Has Started

And so it begins... Last night, just before the ball dropped (2 Minutes to Midnight for the Iron Maiden Fans out there) I had my first Depo Provera injection. Though the normal initial dose is 300 mg, we chose to go with 150 to start since my T level is already fairly low in the 135 range. We will follow that up with another 150 in a week or so, then likely get on a routine of an injection every 2 weeks to maintain. My wife actually did the injection (her first ever) and did a great job with it. The plan is to continue the chemical trial for several months before considering the next step.

We are looking forward to seeing the results of the Depo, though she is a bit concerned about the possibility of me having hot flashes, being moody, and possibly getting depressed. I guess we can go through menopause together!

Congratulations. Keep informed please. I'm considering this path as well

The mental problems and hot flashes disappear completely with estradiol. If you're both going to go through menopause together then it can be much better with estradiol and progesterone. Heath risks seem minimal with the native forms of the hormones.

Can you get it without a rx? Is there a generic anyone would recommend?

I'm wondering at what point should I start the Estradiol? Is this something I need to do right away, or should I wait a period of time to allow the DP to do its thing and lower my T first? I had a baseline T level done last week and I don't know why, but I had myself thinking it was much lower than it was to start with, so I am doing a second dose of DP today, then bi-weekly after.

Estradiol? Not legally in civilized parts of the world. I don't know where you are but I'm in Ontario and was able to get it on informed consent. I just told my doctor I wanted it and was referred to an endocrinologist. I had a half hour chat with him and walked out with the prescription in hand.

You are definitely on the right track 2barbells. Get that T level down as low as you can and then see how you feel. If you are happy being that way then an orchiectomy is the way to go. T levels should drop down to at least under 100 and perhaps even lower to achieve a true castrated level. Good luck with your goals, be patient, don't give up, stay determined and committed, and you will find success come off victorious. Keep us all posted with your progress.

Thanks @mattman59! I will definitely keep posting my progress. My wife asks me every day how I feel and if I feel any "different." LOL. It's only been a few days, so nothing earth shattering to report yet. In a way, I'm glad there is nothing to report so far as it means I haven't had any kind of adverse reaction/allergic reaction to the meds. Surprisingly a bit tender at the injection sites, but barely noticeable.

The hell? I'm in NS and I went to a psychiatrist and then a GP who does shifts at a sexual health clinic complaining about pedophilic sexual energy in my body causing insomnia, and I got gatekept. The former prescribed me an anti psychotic, and later an anti depressant, and the latter offered me spironolactone.
