Dave Craps on a Movie: Cold Pursuit

According to Liam Neeson, this is the last of his action movies.

Body Count: 25. Also, it’s a remake of a Scandinavian film - In Order of Disappearance - in Norwegian that’s Kraftidioten - (I'm not making this up, you know!) which only has a body count of 22.

There’s a complicated plot of a snowplow driver’s only son helps steal a kilo of cocaine and gets killed for it. So the snowplow driver starts to take revenge and kill drug dealers. That starts a chain of events with the clueless and rather out-of-control Drug-Lord and his competitors to see who kills each other in revenge first. Bloodbath, bloodbath, bloodbath...

It also turns out that the snowplow dealer’s father and brother used to work for the drug lord.

Then there’s the Indian tribe who the Drug-Lord thinks is responsible for killing his dealers.

There's lots of strange nicknames. Lots of really nasty killing, a beheading, some torture, and dick-jokes, and more killing. All seasoned with plenty of bizarre humor thanks to the out-of-control Drug-Lord who several times just kills for the sake of killing...

SPOILER: the hero in the Scandinavian original was named “Nils Dickman” and in the remake because the filmmakers didn’t want people giggling at a “dick” joke, they renamed the hero “Nils Coxman.”

Go figure.

Surprisingly, if you can get past the idea of revenge killings in cold blood, this entertains as a piece of immature violence to laugh at. . .
