OLD MAN AND THE GUN (2018)

I liked this movie. It’s a Robert Redford movie and it might be his last. It’s about a bank robber named Forrest Tucker who escaped from San Quentin at the age of 70 and committed more bank robberies. Detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck) hunts him and a lady, (Sissy Spacek), falls in love with him in spite of his profession.

It’s fun to watch, not violent and not bloody but still a good movie with solid dialog, well-thought out plot, and excellent acting.

Forrest Tucker is a legend in his own mind, a man who grew up as a thief and robbed banks and did that all his life. Tucker wants to be remember the way we see Robert Redford - - charming, eyes-twinkling, gentle mannered, and successful at robbing banks.

Robert Redford is a class act and if he does retire, the movie world will be the loser.

Gotta admit, the title is so reminiscent of another aged, and ruggedly-good-looking, actor's late-stage roll; Rutger Hauer's Hobo with a Shotgun. Which was certainly silly and over the top, but also strangely beautiful.

I'll watch this Old Man and the Gun gladly.

Brings to mind the little boy Mikey, eating his LIFE cereal, much to the shock of his brothers.
