Seems that airlines are no longer insisting on binary gender....

Would you choose Mx or perhaps prefer another M...?

Seems the original source for this "news" is

Much the same as NYT, but why do they even ask for gender, if genders are really treated equally?

I could go with Mx, better than Mr or Miss but I've never got used to being labelled. None of them have ever been right probably because there isn't a right one. Am I male, certainly not, although genetic male, am I female, no although I look like and dress as a girl. Am I a eunuch, yes, I've been castrated but then feminized. So I'm a eunuch at the feminine end of the androgyne scale, veering on tgirl. Though very feminine and awaiting non-invasive SRS surgery I still ID more as eunuch than female.

Great Question especially if our political system is so insistant that all genders are equal. And if all genders are equal why is it that there are government sponsored preferences for women and minority owned business in the government contracting system. Ooooppppss! So much for all being equal. And why is it that a woman can walk into a welfare office and get instant assistance while a white male is turned away at the door often. Ooppss! So much for all being equal. Oh yeah! and how is it that a woman can claim sexual harassment or abuse without the slightest bit of proof and a man cannot. Ooopppssss! again with the all being equal. Need we go on and ON and ON about it all? Of course not. There are simply prejudice throughout the world. And even more so in such a divided nations as America. Oh no Mr. Bill, I forgot that this is not a political site. Oh! but I was not being political. Just responding to the question.

M(r) M(rs) M(iss) WHy not just M(e) as in Me! Or I or myself. oh but somebody might think Me in the box marking sex or gender stands for eunuch or either so there we go again. Round and Round we go.

I personally see your comments as not political but rather social and on mark. We as a society have become far too sensitive and the trend is encouraged and perpetuated not as much by politicians as the media, Hollywood, the self appointed PC Police and every "special" group. I think this trend is very destructive for it separates and further isolates us as well as discourages free dialog. More philosophical than political, I am a Libertarian and believe everyone should be free to do or be anything they wish as long as it doesn't negatively affect others. That said, forcing your beliefs on others is a negative effect as is creating different classes of people.

I always find this a difficult question to answer, I've tried before and ended up writing a load of drivel. I'm somewhere between eunuch and tgirl but feel I'm still changing. I've read a lot on the subject but nevertheless have no idea what to call myself. I'm castrated, feminized and submissive, I mostly wear female clothes and makeup. On the other hand I like strength training with weights, power lifting and Winter sports. Since we are all unique I tend not to worry about having a label but for convenience I would put Mx.

While interesting to know the title choice of individuals, what do we think of the airline's decision to break from the traditional binary genders?

Maybe other airlines should follow?

At this time of year, maybe the IRS should celebrate with such an example of acceptance, even though the tax code currently draws binary distinctions. SS cards, passports, "green" cards, military ID...could all do with being more accepting?

Many of us are gender-fluid in our dress-styles; perhaps Forever 21 etc should be a mix of styles?

Athletics pose another issue: the IAAF proposes to classify competitors by T-level, not sex, not gender https://www.iaaf.org/news/press-release ... classifica . Maybe they arrived at "Mx" first.

A tangled web we weave....

Martina N, the doyenne of tennis takes issue with gender classification:

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/Tennis/ ... 550542568/

What do you think?

https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2019/01 ... _ss=gender

Not easy to be non-binary and defend your homeland...

Two steps forward, one back....

Does gender matter in the military now, and if so, how?

Interesting how we as a society still place some sort of importance on clothing being male or female. Personally I've never thought that I wore female clothing. While traveling and living my life I simply wear the clothing most appropriate for the task at hand. For example, with lots of travel in less developed countries I have found it far easier to wear a skirt so I don't have to bare my ass to make water on the side of a road. An intact male doesn't need to bare his ass to make water because he can simply and discreetly stick that thing out a zipper facing away from traffic to make water. Not having one of those things to discreetly pull out of a zipper it's far easier to just squat without the need of dropping a pair of britches. Same can be said for riding my bike. It wouldn't be convenient to wear a skirt and have highway speeds blowing it up around my throat so britches are in order. No, I don't consider either clothing as male or female but simply clothing to protect the body. I've NEVER owned nor used makeup for any reason. I don't need to paint myself up to be me.Society seemed to force the "F" on my credentials from a time of the past. And while we are not yet a homogenized society we're moving closer. Although I'm equally sure there are plenty of folks "even on these forums" who take great offense at removing the very titles etc that are important in confirming their masculinity. And as it should be for many. While we don't need to erase the lines that differentiate between masculine and feminine we do need to avail those of us who chose neither to indicate as such on documents.
