Put ice on you shoulder after the shot. Makes all the difference. If you don't put ice on, shoulder will hurt like begger.

I'm on the waiting list for the shingles shot. Good to know.

Since the new version came out, it's very popular. The older version contained a dead virus. The newer version contains only proteins.

The protocol is two injections 3 to 6 months apart. So, the people who've already had their first shot get priority for the 2nd shot.

As long as we are on the topic of vaccines:

Hep A

Hep B

HPV

Tetanus

Pneumonia

All should be up to date.

HPV is normally given to younger people. When it first came out the HPV vaccine was only recommended for young females (I think 12 to 15 years of age). HPV had been shown to cause some forms of cervical cancer and the idea was to vaccinate women before they became sexually active. Holy Jesus! The conservatives went

insane over the HPV vaccine. They didn't want to give it to their female offspring as they felt it would encourage premarital sex. No, raging hormones around the age of 18 encourage premarital sex.

Anywho, the same HPV virus was shown to cause some forms of prostate cancer. So the HPV vaccine is now recommended to be given to males at around the same age (12 to 15). Oddly, the controversy went away. Now, both males and females are recommended to get the HPV vaccine as early as possible. The "cut off" is around age 25.

Maybe it's just a coincidence that parents stopped objecting when it was as a prevention for prostate cancer and not cervical cancer. After all, we don't live in a society dominated by the male mindset.

I had the old shingles vaccine and still got shingles -bad stuff. I understand that the new vaccine works better.
